We should ban college and professional sports as they are egregious misallocations of hundreds of billions of dollars relative to the value they bring to humanity.

People who learned about a topic through an LLM versus web search felt that they learned less, invested less effort in subsequently writing their advice, and ultimately wrote advice that was shorter, less factual and more generic.

Don't get me wrong. I have my annoyances with this place but when I see stuff like this...well, let's just say can you imagine US media coming together to admonish the growing power of tech and AI as a threat to democracy?

I mean this is just a fact. Smart people that I respect use it as a pejorative and it drives me insane. If you're not embodying the ideal of woke, then you're probably not an interesting person who doesn't try to better themselves.
My most woke opinion is that "woke" at root is a beautiful concept: active socio-political consciousness in the context of the Black American liberation struggle. And the way it's been turned into a sneering pejorative is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen in Western political discourse.
