When the administration drops a dramatic Executive Order like a press release, look at what else was issued the same day. The Smithsonian order is horrifying and terrible, but so is the much more matter of fact order that tries to strip union representation from thousands of federal employees.

Sudden realization-part of why DOGE actions are so disruptive is that they are nonpartisan. Muskrat isn't a pol. He just wants to break public goods so the private sector (he) can profit. That's why R's are feeling it hard, too. He doesn't care who they vote for if they are in the way.

While all of this is true, it's only as good as the spine of the Supreme Court.
Love them. Support them. Ask them about their pronouns and who they want to come out to. Just like all coming out, it's a process and they may still want codeswitching with people they are unsure of. Oh, and when you screw up - and you will- just apologize, correct, and move on.
Great news, parents: you are not required to understand everything about what “non-binary” means in order to love, support, and believe your non-binary kid.
