And it's not over yet.

We call on Peers to reinsert this measure into the Bill when it comes back to them.

A future where nature and people thrive together is possible. We just need the Government to listen.

This is hugely disappointing.

Still, we thank the MPs who not only voted in favour, but spoke out for nature, and everyone who urged them to do so by supporting our campaign.

Without them, nature's voice would have been far quieter today.

Amendment 40 to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill has been voted down.

Had it passed, it would have meant more precious wildlife would have retained existing protections.

Instead, MPs have bought into the false 'nature vs growth' narrative.

Can’t believe so much is still in bloom in November. On the one hand, a late Autumn day spent turning the compost and tidying the brassica cage. On the other, admiring the flowers in the warm sun!

WHY is everyone so obsessed with Robins? Do White-Tailed Eagles have a favourite song? Can you teach a pigeon to defend itself?

Last night, Peers voted against Swift bricks: rejecting a simple, proven way to help one of our fastest declining birds recover. ❌

We share @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social's disappointment & frustration.

The vote came late, but with government refusing to back it, its fate was already sealed.

Yesterday’s debate saw some progress for nature but there’s a long way to go.

Big win as Peers backed Am 130: limiting Environmental Delivery Plans to where they’ll be most effective ✅

But Am 114 was withdrawn: losing a chance to strongly embed climate & nature in planning ❌
The Planning Bill is back in the Lords today - and it still falls short of the win-win for nature the Government says it wants.

We’re grateful to the Peers that have stepped up with vital fixes.

But today’s votes help decide whether this Bill truly delivers for nature & people. 👇

Berwick Bank could kill more birds than any other windfarm on Earth, devastating colonies of Gannets, Puffins and Kittiwakes off Scotland’s coast. 🚨

We support renewables, but not at catastrophic cost to seabirds already in crisis.

Keep them high up out of reach and compost any leftovers to protect our garden wildlife.

Fake web decorations can trap and injure our garden wildlife. Stick to sustainable, indoor decorations and let real spiders do the work outdoors!

We won’t stop calling out poor decision-making.

And we won’t rest until nature is protected, by leadership that values science, accountability and our shared future over short-term politics.

The Secretary of State calls this a win-win for development and nature.

It’s not. It’s a legislative shambles: no clarity for investors, no confidence for business and no security for nature.

You don’t build growth on chaos.

The Government has tabled 67 last-minute amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill.‼️

Rushed through with little scrutiny, it’s a shambolic way to reform the planning system.

It creates confusion, sidelines science and leaves nature dangerously exposed.

Comments like this pit nature against growth – it’s the wrong target.

Here, the system has worked: protecting one of UK’s rarest species while allowing 20,000 homes to proceed.

While saying they want to "preserve nature" the Conservative Party have just pledged to scrap the Climate Change Act.

This makes no sense.

How do more floods, more droughts, and rising temperatures "preserve" nature?

That's what scrapping the Act will lead to.

The tree you climbed as a child. Gone. The Swifts over your town. Gone. The air you breathe. Polluted. The river. Unsafe.

This is the reality of deregulation.

Cutting protections would mean disaster for nature & our economy.
