I’m hosting JaNoWriMo in my FB group. I’m now at 5K words for book 4. Next week will be the real test tho. I’m aiming for 11,500 words.

If I had to recommend 3 things to writers (at all levels), I would start with these 3 (with options for adding more):
1. Be persistent.
2. Be curious about the world, people, history, everything. Expand your horizons. Curiosity is your soil, your ocean, your rock, your air.
3. Never stop learning.

I have to triple check if I mean message or massage. One case of “he messaged her feet” has scared me for life.

Why do editors hate passive voice so much? Because it literally means your characters aren’t taking action; they’re letting stuff happen to them or around them. That gets boring quickly. Who wants to read about a character sitting on their butt, doing nothing?
