trying to come out of a years long depression after a breakup that i'd describe as Completely Destructive to my Esteem and Ego, then trying to dive full on into my passions and ambitions and take it seriously feels like emotional bungie jumping.

researching western opinions on jrpgs and its shocking to think that spurning them was never new. lots of ff7 reviews in '97 specifically praise it for not being like the slow, boring, ugly, repetitive, cliche standard for what they expected from RPGs.
