"BENDIS IS COMING TO DC" still feels new to me, barely read any of the stuff he did there. kinda liked EVENT: LEVIATHAN as it continued his late-Marvel slacker approach to Actually Telling A Story, but i imagine that book didn't work for most fans
The more I think about the Bendis return to Marvel thing, it just reminds me when DC made a HUGE deal about getting Claremont and Byrne to do a JLA arc in the early aughts.
Only for it to turn out embarrassingly dated and totally out of step with what contemporary readers would have connected to.

I don't think the fandom at large even thinks of him as a superstar writer in 2025. And that's not to slag him off or anything, it's just reality.
