I’m a not so wise granny with a love of forest wanderings, waterfalls and streams, moss, mushrooms, lichen, fantasy lit, and my huge orange cat. Breast cancer survivor.
Feeling lonely for my mother’s father. He was born a poor farm boy, but became a dentist through hardship and adversity. He was also the best gardener I’ve ever known. I want to talk orchids and bulbs, good dirt, fertilizers, and the love of green things with him. He was also a gifted storyteller.

Listening to the faint sound of cricketers cheering and laughing on a close by field. Somewhere in the house an enormous ginger cat is silently sulking. I know there are people who can’t abide with quiet, but it’s a balm to my brain.

I bought a smoked Gouda almost the size of my head yesterday. The massive sourdough loaf I purchased is for now. #hobbitholidays

That might work!
I have Long Covid so I've been wearing a mask indoors for years. On the rare occasion that I get stared at or asked why, I simply reply that "it's a condition of my parole" Works to move people along every time🤣

We stopped at the historical marker for Harriet Tubman's birthplace and found someone had left three apples and a whisk broom in the grass. They form an arrow pointing north.

I’ve had three ear worms this week: Paint it Black, Forever Young, and I Am a Pirate King. Guess which one I was softly singing as I negotiated the crowds at Costco today.

Uh…so my 7 year old just called the wind a wretched jackanapes, which made me choke on my dinner laughing.

I was a precocious little sass but come on now

Some of Generation Jones are finally getting their Susie Homemaker Ovens. This one in a lovely yellow hue, instead of pink or turquoise.

Well said!
My deepest respects to her, and to all who stand on dodgy knees, aching backs, or unstable joints anywhere to support our democracy.
Time and again, we see the elderly at No Kings rallies. They remember what democracy looks like. No wonder they're angry.

An elderly woman collapsed in line while voting at our precinct. Tall, slender, and stoic, she’d been waiting at least 45 minutes.

Kyiv
has many cozy bookstores.
They offer food for the brain (books)
and coffee for long, often sleepless nights.

Nations that read can think critically.
Please, read books.

If you still wear a mask & take precautions to protect yourself and others from COVID-19/other infections:

Thank you for saving lives and for putting people before the status quo. Every time you wear a mask, test before/after going to crowded events, and stay home when sick, you make a difference.

Today would be a great day to donate to your local food pantry.

They love nonperishables, but financial donations often go even farther, since then they can purchase what they need in bulk.

Went to pick up Christmas food at my local Polish restaurant. Long line of Polish grandmas ready yesterday to pay and go. Young woman walks to the front of the line and asks the male owner to ring her up since she has one item. Without blinking he firmly says no. The grandmas were gonna draw blood.

I’m 100% behind taco treating.
My 8yo told me she had a dream that she went "taco treating," which is where you go door to door and people give you tacos

So please, with flu season apparently coming through me and a Covid doing who knows what this winter, put on a goddamn mask if you go to a medical facility or any crowded indoor space! This is not fun!

Just watched a juvenile coyote wandering in a field next door. Jaunty walk, looked about for prey or friends, flushed out birds. At noon. Only juvenile, desperate, or sick coyotes, are usually out during the day here.

I was the only one #masking in my #cancer doctor’s waiting room. Then one patient walked by. At least no one was coughing and sneezing this time.
let's start with people masking when they are sniffling and sputtering and coughing into the shared air and take it from there, because a lot of y'all won't even have the bare minimum manners needed to live in a society.
