The new US National Security Strategy, in its predictable and characteristic ugliness, is a good occasion for Europe to finally let go of the time-consuming transatlantic crisis management efforts and start focusing on a proper and proactive own strategy instead.

One of the best kinds of timeline cleansers😁 I can just picture the silly grin I'd have myself doing the same thing😋
Go forth and air fry all the things, husband of Jen!
Our microwave died, so my husband bought a new one that has a built-in air fryer, and now he is trying out air frying things with the glee of a child who has a new toy.

Look, it can air fry tater tots! French toast sticks for Squidling! A grilled cheese sandwich!

I'm still kind of afraid of it. 😅

Bart De Wever’s remarks on frozen Russian assets are a fascinating case study in how intimidation narratives enter Western political speech.

But can we walk through his claims point-by-point — and compare them to history, law, and observable facts?

Yes, we can.

This document is terrifying in its worldview, but also gives a «last gasp of a crumbling empire».

I agree that Europe has problems.

Unfortunately, our main ally is becoming one of our biggest ones.

Two fascist superpowers divvying up Europe is a nightmare.

We just urged President Metsola to end the European Parliament’s dependence on foreign tech.

The EP runs on US hardware and Microsoft tools that put EU data at risk.

Europe already has secure alternatives, what’s missing is political will.

Time for real tech sovereignty! 🇪🇺

New reporting shows foreign trolls tried to influence the Dutch elections, boosting FvD figures.

This is just one example. I’m increasingly convinced we’re only seeing a fraction of the foreign interference damaging our democracies.

We need stronger oversight & stricter rules on foreign influence!

I for one welcome this new U.S. strategy. At least it will now be impossible for people to ignore what a lot of us have known to be true for a long time:

- There is no "keeping the Americans in". They are out.
- The Trump Regime fucking hate Europe.
- They will ACTIVELY SUBVERT US to DOMINATE US.
Europeans are waking up this morning to find the new US National Security Strategy (quietly) released. And what it has to say on Europe could not be clearer. On the „stark prospect of civilizations erasure“ for example. 👇

Trump-regimet vil starte aktiv undergraving av sine tidligere allierte i Europa for å få et mer fascist-vennlig Europa.

Kan vi våkne til helvete opp nå, folkens?

Kan vi?
From the new and quietly released U.S. Security Strategy. They don't like our liberal ways, and will "cultivate resistance within European nations".

Let me translate that for you. Support

- AfD in Germany
- Rassemblement National in France
- Reform in the UK

So, "make Europe Nazi again"...

Fuck.
No way we should despair - because the US will cultivate resistance withing Europe - to change our current trajectory.

Keep an eye out for little green American men.

This is the most jarring strategy document I've ever read, and I've read a lot of them.

One meanders through a paragraph of fairly standard right-wing American strategy, stumbles into a patch of Trump-worship, then is hit in the face by a sentence that is wildly dangerous; and repeat for 33 pages.

Time isn't on our side. We can't keep wasting it.

Pro-Russian parties are still gaining support in several European states.

If something doesn't change, our resolve to fight against Russian expansion and the rise of Putinist or Trumpian authoritarianism will get weaker.

The fact that four hostile drones tried to hit Zelenskyy’s plane & it’s barely a blip in the news cycle should terrify everyone. Can't remember where I saw it, but someone made a good point as to why the russians probably view that money as gone already (yeah yeah, sources schmources). Point is that I doubt the US want to save it for anything other than a share of it.
