I've written up my thoughts around dependencies in software engineering: medium.com/thg-tech-blo... I've become very opinionated over this topic over the last 10 years or so (as my long-suffering colleagues will attest to)

An absolutely wonderful video from a game dev at Insomniac - but it starts with an Amiga 500 demo so it's even better!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDfr...

I finally finished Baldurs Gate 3 this week. It's a masterpiece. I'm not sure I will enjoy other fantasy crpgs the same now. It took me 3 consecutive summer vaccinations to complete as it is one of the few games that work on my Mac.

Absolute alien technology: www.youtube.com/watch?v=72y2... - starts with a call out to GOAL from naught dog and then just becomes wilder and wilder. It feels like lispmachine type behaviour (bug -> call stack rewind -> fix but -> continue) but also much more than that.

I completed Star Wars Outlaws. There's a good game struggling to get out of some typical Ubisoft nonsense here. Yeah the creep up behind a stormtrooper and punch them unconscious is silly but I don't mind that. The checkpoints/autosave was bad and TAA mess (worst on the first planet) are issues.

A few years ago when I was troublingly deep into Elite Dangerous (flight stick, throttle, the lot) I used an EQ to make it sound like Spotify was playing in my ship's cockpit, and had this moment where a song perfectly synced up with a hyperspace jump.
