Movies and other entertainment, occasional politics. OK boomer. Openly gray. If I followed you at the other place, will try to find and follow you here; it may take awhile.
YouTube find! Anthony Shaffer's Sleuth (1974), largely unavailable for years (out-of-print DVD). Hugely entertaining, Michael Caine, Laurence Olivier, Joe Mankiewicz all Oscar-nominated (classic movie/Mank fans, note "Eve Channing" in the opening credits) youtu.be/YkxcddXoKpo?...

Would you believe the first time I saw The Wizard of Oz it was on a black and white TV? I still loved it of course. #TCMParty

I love The Day of The Jackal. And don’t ever tell me Director Fred Zinnemann wasn’t versatile. #TCMParty

Although she'd appeared uncredited in a few silent films, birthday girl, actress, playwright, screenwriter Ruth Gordon's first credited film role was as Mary Todd Lincoln in Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940). She won her acting Oscar 29 years later.

Haven’t seen Voyage of The Damned since it came out in 1976 but remember liking it. The all-star cast on this poster is a little distracting from the films somber Holocaust-related subject matter and makes it look like an Agatha Christie mystery, but it’s worth seeing. #TCMparty

Happy birthday to Vera Miles. Among many great performances, she starred in the premiere episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), foreshadowing her terrific work for him the following year in The Wrong Man, playing a similar role of a woman struggling with mental illness.

I just noticed famed director Don Siegel in the #Casablanca opening credits as part of the montage crew. It was early in his career and he apparently directed the opening montage sequence under the narration. #TCMParty

“I Have Confidence” and “Something Good” were written solely by Richard Rodgers for the film, as Oscar Hammerstein had passed away a few years before the film’s production #TCMParty #TheSoundOfMusic

Not to pile on , and I know this was recorded months ago, and Ben was probably under the weather with a cold at the time, but I’m gonna tell myself he’s so low energy tonight because of the online beat-down he’s been taking over The Sphere Wizard of Oz #TCMParty#TheSoundOfMusic

Probably because it was the first thing I was aware of him in, but I always assumed Butterflies Are Free was Edward Albert’s first film. Very glad that @thejoedante.bsky.social has programmed the very rarely seen The Fool Killer tonight on @TCM. #TCMParty
