I LOVE that this woman in Georgia decided to terrorize her neighbors with the Fall Of Democracy and Trump's Ghouls (in poetic detail) instead of your usual demons and monsters.

She said, "It's scary because it's true."

Thinking about this from a U.S. perspective: If our neighbors have been ripping us off — as Trump insists — then not trading with them must be good for the United States. But when you actually write that down and spend a moment thinking about it, it sounds like an utterly absurd economic strategy 🤔
Carney: But this decades-long process of an ever-closer economic relationship with the United States is now over. And as a consequence, many of our former strengths as a country—more particularly, our economic strengths based on close ties to America—have now become our vulnerabilities…

Dictators suck at convincing.
This country is allowed to have tariffs. You just have to convince Congress that they're a good idea.

The President can hold tariff powers instead of Congress, if you can convince voters to amend the Constitution.

If you can't convince anyone of anything, rethink your ideas.
Trump: "If this country is not allowed to have tariffs, if this country is not allowed to have the president negotiate on behalf of it w/tariffs, we are put in a position where we're gonna be a 3rd world country. We can't let that happen. I think it's the most important case that we are gonna have"

In a village of idiots, Kevin does stand out.
If he were right, the import price index (which measures pre-tariff prices) would have fallen by enough to offset the sharp tariff hike. It didn't.

Six months after ICE apprehended 47 people, including nine kids, in Hays County, Texas, County Judge Ruben Becerra says DHS has ignored his attempts to get answers: “We’re not told why they took them, and we’re not told where they took them. By definition, that’s a kidnapping.”
How Trump is Building a Violent, Shadowy Federal Police Force

This is a U.S. citizen being brutally abducted by ICE while his mom pleads for them to stop and the videographer cries for help. The Chicago police do nothing to stop it.

They will come for everyone, and they’re not even hiding that anymore. If you are not organizing and resisting yet, get started.

Angus: Canada is reconsidering that relationship with China. Why? Because we can no longer trust the US.

And we know that we have 150, maybe more, Canadians in custody at ICE detention centers. We had two Canadians under Chinese custody and it caused a huge outcry. We now have over 150 in the US.

So we no longer have a democracy?

I know no one wants to say it.

But we can’t go back to what we had. It can’t be fixed. He shut out the government and took plenary power. He won’t give it up willingly.

I think we need some reality so people can start imagining the new America democracy.

The tariff story isn’t just soybeans. It’s also your grocery bill. Farmers get a bailout. Shoppers just get higher prices. Trade wars don't just create pain, they ensure the costs are born by those without political power.

We don't have the luxury of despair.
Ossoff: "We have a president who's completely out of control, a crook engaged in unprecedented corruption, who's passing one of the most unpopular agendas in history. The public is turning against him. The opposition is motivated. We can win & we have to win, but we don't have the luxury of despair"
