Vix in Japan has been doing a video series on Hudson Soft, the game maker which partnered with NEC to create the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16. The latest entry covers the early 90s, the wind down of PCE & NES, and SNES games. The video is well produced and informative!

The Haslab Tron set looks good but is just too pricy. Maybe if these were 6" scale figures or an even more limited production run it could be justified.
Haslab | Tron: Heroes of the Grid 3.75-Inch Scale Collector Set - Hasbro Pulse
Tron: Heroes of the Grid 3.75-inch set features Flynn, Tron, Yori, Sark, and 2 Light Cycles with detailed, retro design and a light-up Grid base.

Occasionally I'll come across a channel in YouTube and wonder how it doesn't have at least 100k subscribers. I was searching for reviews of the old sci-fi film and came across Bakey Reviews Movies. The reviews very informative yet have a goofy charm. Recommended!

I watched and caught up with Murderbot on Apple TV+ the past few days and realized the true reason I want a 4th Star Trek Kelvin Timeline movie is to see John Cho as Captain Sulu. Who's with me?

I saw Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye tonight. It was a lot of fun and continues with mixing wild action, caring characters, and yokai origins filled with profound sorrow. Also, I enjoyed the interview with the co-directors at the end. Can't wait for the full season 2 to air!

I was at an antique store this week and saw a Jyn Erso toy sticking out among some other Star Wars toys. I rewatched Rogue One recently after finishing Andor Season 2 and the move hits different now, but I'm still getting teary eyed at the end.

I saw that Peter David passed away. As a teenager & in college, I found myself gravitating to certain comic books without realizing he was the common thread among them. Seeing "Peter David" as the author of a novel or comic was a sure indicator I'd enjoy the story inside. Rest in Peace Peter David.

I picked up the 2001: A Space Odyssey at the WA State Toy Show yesterday. I had it as a kid and the Robert McCall artwork reminds me of the wonder I had back then. This is a later release without the gatefold but I'm not sure which pressing.

The blossoms were nice while they lasted. Our species of tree always blooms a few weeks after others in our neighborhood. I like to think it's keeping the Spring vibes going just a little longer.

I finally finished a roll of film that had been in my Canon Rebel for at least a year. Nothing too exciting on it. It mostly has photos around my neighborhood. I'll definitely just use 24 exposure film going forward so I can complete a roll quicker.

As the article mentions, outsourcing inspections to states could work and free up remaining FDA personnel for imports and hot spots, but there's no indication that the layoffs have been coordinated and planned for that transition. Feels like another poorly thought out and communicated hack & slash
FDA making plans to end its routine food safety inspections, sources say
Food safety inspections would be left to state and local authorities under the plan being developed by the FDA.

I stopped by the Interim Computer Festival, presented by the SDF Public Access UNIX System (sdf.org). It was a relatively small space but packed with computers, workstations, communications & diagnostic equipment plus retro enthusiasts. Now that it's on my radar, I hope to attend future events.

In a recent KCON USA post, they used a DEC VAXstation to give a retro vibe. I used a VAXstation in college. It was already an aging choice in the computer clusters. Better than the IBM RT PCs but slower than DECstations and RS/6000 workstations
