Just put a venison stew in the oven, washing machine on, and everything on charge: car, e-bike, vacuum. Using #FreeElectricity when the wind is blowing! Great of @octopus.energy to get people excited about renewables in this way!
Now time for a cup of tea and lunch!

Well, time once again to trot out the story of the guy in my school who got caught using some primitive translation software to cheat on his French homework after turning in 500 words discussing the rise of "Jean Marie Le-Stylo"

Why does ‘UK’s biggest carbon emitter’ receives billions in green subsidies? It shouldn’t
Green groups say #Drax is largest single source of #emissions in UK & its owners should not have claimed more than £7b in renewable energy subsidies. www.theguardian.com/business/art...

Put another way, the British state raised more revenue in 2023 from corporation tax paid by OnlyFans' parent company (£118m) than it did from North Sea oil royalties and license fees (£69m)
OnlyFans:
$1.3bn revenue
$818m gross profit
$172m paid in tax, most of it to the UK Treasury

All thanks to a very horny Essex man and his City banker father for selling the business to a mysterious Ukrainian-American who decided to keep the business registered in London.

The primary energy fallacy is the idea that all primary energy from fossil fuels must be replaced with an equivalent amount of clean energy.

BUT: This is not necessary because conversion losses do not need to be replaced. More than 2/3 of all primary energy is lost as waste heat.

Japan’s position on climate change and the energy transition is unfathomable. Talking down the energy transition, driving fossil fuel consumption and bolstering ridiculous distractions like CCS.

Stories about the waste generated by energy technologies are really interesting—and I've written my fair share of them. But part of me wants to make a law that this image has to be the top of every single one to put this all in context

My experience is that people easily identify waste reduction as an environmental issue and act on it, but don't engage with other issues such as transport, energy use or biodiversity loss
