Saw a kanangaroo with a mini kanangaroo today.
I tell you what, CT contrast is no fun sometimes. Haven't eaten since lunch since I'm not sure if I'm having surgery or not, so that metallic taste made me feel like vomiting rather than just funny in my mouth. Can stand the 'peed yourself' feeling, but the metallic taste... Blegh.
Thank you. If I didn't have to wait to hear my name called, I'd have headphones in. Thankfully he's disappeared.

Hoping it's a short visit this time. Fingers crossed.
He did get asked by one of the elderly support people to turn it down, but alas, when that person passed their shift over, the grinder came back up.
Currently in emergency waiting to be seen and have to give a shout out to the bloke listening to a video of what I can only assume is 'the best angle grinding clips of 2025' at full volume.

I hate getting presents. I have all the things I need. Presents are just things I don't need but have to take care of. I live in a tiny flat and I don't have room for any more stuff. Please, stop with the presents.
Looking forward to WA getting our public holidays in line with the rest of Australia. Frustrating when the rest of the nation has no idea we had a day off yesterday.
Had my first altercation with a sovereign citizen this morning. They're not stable individuals.
Yay or nay on brushing your teeth in the work toilet?

Not in the cubicle, but at the wash basin.
This right here.

Streaming also killed aspects of bootleg music and live recordings. I can't easily access my thousands of hours of live music because streaming services don't allow it.
Xennial here. I spent years building my iTunes library so I could listen to music on my teeny little iPod. Now I have to carry this chunky smartphone and go through a streaming service? This brick of a phone is tugging down my comfy middle aged lady sweatpants.
We fucked up by letting them put everything we need onto one device and making it hard to have alternate options. I miss being able to go out with *just* my music and nothing else. Now that option is costly to have. Let me be uncontactable. Please.
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

read this and weep. all but confirms what we all suspected: the closure of Meanjin was deeply weird and the motivations behind it were most likely (obviously imho) political.

time to boycott MUP i reckon

A deep dive with some alarming new revelations on the silencing of one of the few remaining independent progressive voices in Australian media. Who killed Meanjin?

And why won’t Melbourne University Publishing engage with efforts to save it?

I don't need a Nintendo Switch 2, but then they go and put out a Pokemon Animal Crossing and now I need a Nintendo Switch 2. Let me be friends with Psyduck. Let me make him comfy.
Variety publishing stories about who the alleged shooter is is wild. They've just fully stepped into being a right leaning publication with no cares at all. So long for them being an arts and entertainment focused publication.

If standing up against fascism is what cost me my dream job I held for 10 years, I would do it again 100x stronger

I can’t quite put it into words yet, but something is happening, a kind of global singularity—a fusion of tech/media/news/government/employment which allows the global elite to push single agendas: “You WILL care about Charlie Kirk. You will NOT care about Palestine. You WILL fear cancel culture.”
Think we are up to 8 bbc news alerts about charlie kirk.
If everyone starts leaping to yet another social media platform, I think I might be done. Going to rent a PO box. Mail me your memes or nothing at all.
Love seeing local filmmakers holding vigils for assassinated right wing hate spewers. Makes it very easy to decide which filmmakers to not support in the future.

Charlie Kirk died doing what he loved: Ignoring the realities of school shootings and gun violence while antagonizing people on campus with racist and bad faith commentary and assuming the guns he jerks off to at night would never actually affect him. America!
When that other man - you know the one - dies, will the same hand wringers be saying, 'don't cheer his death'? Of course they will.
