Welcome.
This page is about sword and sorcery, fantasy and science fiction. It's about art, especially my art and my availability to do illustrations for you.
Illustrators the business of illustration, art, techniques materials and resources, anything else you'd like except religion or politics.
Ned the Barbarian suffers from a condition called Systemic Malignant Herpetology. Wherever he goes there's a giant reptile trying to kill him.
It's a reptile disfunction.
You can help Ned and his kittens get to safety by following this link. gofund.me/715ecc79a
Happy Bunday!

Behold the... horny thing!
And a sketch. From Gilead's Miniature Sword & Sorcery Sketchbook of Doom!
Between now and January or possibly Frebrurarry I will be ignoring all of my social medias entirely except the face book.

This time of year brings out the beast in me! Bearing in mind that the beast mostly eats candy and sleeps a lot, but he's a beast!

Here's a bookmark design with a picture of a horny guy named Randy.
Your assignment today is to write an erotic romantasy featuring a sexually insatiable satyr with a massive horn... section in his punk rock band. Keep it tasteful.

We're moving soon, so much to do, very little time for sketching.

I love fantasy art but it's a little hard to sell.
Sword and sorcery is a really tough sell in most markets.
Mainstream art such as wildlife is easier.
In between are things like dragons and fairies which sort of crossover.

No one has hired me to make an Octoberfest sign this year, but perhaps I could make a tee-shirt design. Pretty girls and beer, is that a thing?

Baby Dragon
Indian ink and white house-paint on canvas.
Painting this for a very special person.

I always carry a miniature sketchbook and am always sketching in it.
These Sketchbooks are always titled Gilead's Miniature Sword & Sorcery Sketchbook of Doom.

The specter of homelessness haunts our nightmares.
So we're moving to live with Stellar's mom for the foreseeable.
We'll never see our friends again which is emotionally overwhelming.
Once there we have no idea what's coming next.
But there's shelter and safety and maybe that's enough for now.

Figure drawing from a photo. I've been told that it takes no artistry, imagination or creativity to draw from photos because the photograph has made all of those choices for you. Bummer.
I have lots of sketches ( mostly nudes) here at the apartment that we're selling mostly for $10.00 each.

If you're local and can come by my place to pick up some sketches I'm very affordable. I really can't ship anything right now while everything's upside down.

There's a lot on my mind, but I'm scared to say it out loud. I'll have to say it soon but not today, I just can't take it today.
Here's a sketch to hide my fears.

The Smithy
Pen and ink. Illustration for a magazine. Ideally I'm looking for more work like this. In addition to, not in exclusion of, all the other work I like to do.

In a nursing home. Grandma couldn't remember who we were or where she was or if she'd had breakfast.
Mom said It's hard getting old isn't it?
Grandma replied "Getting old was easy, BEING old is hard."
I may soon be senile, but I'll be a smart-ass with my last dying breath. It's a family trait.

Here's another landscape I worked on while it was raining.
Not really done but if I pick up some sign painting work I might not get back to this for a while.
Also I'm applying for work in a factory.

Was going to do something else the other day but it started raining so I stayed home and painted.
Bad idea because we needed to do stuff.
Good idea because the streets were flooded. There was debris and accidents.
Bad idea because it's humid so the paint didn't dry well.

Acrylics on sketch-paper.
It's not good art, it's good practice.

A fast colored-pencil freebie I did with the sale of a book.
October 12, 2025 at 4:35 PM
Well.
I'm going to try one last time to get employed in some way. Or sell stuff or something. Otherwise we're moving out very soon. How that changes our lives will not be known until it happens.
