What voters actually admire is someone with integrity and conviction.
As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

As with everything the UCP does, the opposite of their claimed intent occurs. Hand counts will sew distrust in the process rather than Danielle’s insistence this is some kind of improvement.
Parmar was behind 6 votes before recount, and now wins by 600.
And fifth-place Kotch lost more than 600 votes.
