Thrilled to announce my recently published work on polar monitoring using computer vision at IEEE OCEANS, a culmination of some fieldwork in Svalbard last year.It focuses on estimation of floating ice distribution in glacial bays using aerial imagery by fine-tuning+robustifying a SAM model. (1/2)

The UN #OceanDecade has been going strong for 3+ years, becoming the largest global #oceanscience initiative ever! Its time to take stock of where we are & what the challenges/gaps are. I was honored to moderate a panel at the OCEANS conference in Halifax recently to discuss these issues. (1/2)

Detecting #marinemammal vocalizations underwater in Singapore's waters is challenging because of the #bioacoustics activity from the snapping shrimp in this region. My latest paper discusses how this can be done using smart denoising techniques to suppress the noise. doi.org/10.1016/j.ma... (1/2)

Last year,we explored marine robots to study glaciers in the Arctic.We started with a low-cost robot to test the waters (or the ice!) in these glacial fjords. Now we have some Polish TV coverage with our "Glacial Ablation MOnitoring Robot" (GLAMOR): vod.tvp.pl/programy,88/... (1/2)

So, I successfully completed my maiden 11-day expedition to the Antarctic thanks to Nat Geo & Lindblad expeditions ! Didn't expect I'd be able to learn so much, get so much data, on our first voyage here.Stunning views,great outings & unique biodiversity added to my experience (1/2)

Last July, I undertook a field campaign to the Arctic to study the music of the melting glaciers, and how we can use it to understand how fast they are melting. It was a satisfying campaign, and gave us a lot of insights into the physical processes in this relatively unexplored region.(1/3)
