Metro adopts new environmental report for Union Station overhaul
The long-running effort to add run-through tracks to Union Station has cleared another hurdle.This week, the Metro Board of Directors approved a supplemental environmental study for the Link Union Station project, which would enable through-routing at the historic passenger rail hub while also expanding its interior. Completion of the project would enable one-seat rides between Orange and Ventura Counties on Metrolink, as well as between San Diego and San Luis Obispo on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner.

The city is about to spend $2B+ to make traffic *worse* at LAX. We could do so much with that money, but instead we’re about to light it on fire with a freeway-style interchange in front of the airport, undercutting our transit investments.

Currently, funding (and approval) of capital projects is done at the county level. We recommended consolidating Metrolink into a single regional body whose members are either elected specifically for this purpose or appointed by the governor with a rail mission. calelectricrail.org/wp-content/u...

One can only hope. I’d take the OC Metrolink line to Union right now and get off of Union Pacific rail.
Success that was funded by CAHSR. Hoping this has a domino effect for transit agencies throughout the state; such as Metrolink.

This can not be understated
To fully appreciate the potential of the West Coast Health Alliance you need to appreciate the size of its combined economy. CA alone would be the fourth largest economy in the world. The Alliance together would be third, after only the US and China. Big enough to provide single-payer healthcare.
