If you're staying home criticizing the tactics of people in the streets, consider instead doing neither of those things.

If a government meets nonviolent protest with overwhelming militarized force and accusations of insurrection, they're not really incentivizing people to stay nonviolent, are they?

People might start to feel like if they're going to be punished anyway, they might as well do what they're accused of.

If you really want to drive the point home about how fucked up ICE is then people should start forcing Star Wars themes on ICE. Protesters should start playing the imperial march whenever ICE shows up and should also start dressing like the rebel alliance.

There are other options. Always. But you have to do the legwork of seeking, investigating, and trying something new.

Boop.
The ONE THING people with large audiences refuse to do to fight fascism is stop publishing on Substack. People are starting to publish on Substack—this month—because Substack keeps paying people to ignore their own moral center.

You can’t fight fascism in a Nazi bar.

You. Just. Fucking. Can’t.
Watching people post about how they hate Nazis and are committed to fighting fascism but the one thing that would be easiest for them to do is stop publishing on substack, but they won’t do it.

You’re not fighting fascism. You’re enabling it.

I see people keep asking "when do we panic" and the answer is never, not because it isn't that serious, we surpassed that point long ago. It's because panic does not help you assess a threat, nor does it help you rise to meet it.

And these petty, hateful, violent people do not deserve our fear

Anarchists at the 1993 queer march on Washington. Chants: “We’re fucking anarchists, we’ll fuck whoever we want!” and “We’re here, we’re Queer, and we hate the government!”

Some had a banner reading “Anti-Racist Skinheads and Punx Against Homophobia” and chanted “Oi! Oi! Oi! We fuck boys!”

Literally talked about Reaganomics era yesterday with a learned Gen-X punk rocker. Fascism is never a good idea, kids. Go listen to some Dead Kennedys today.
What ideas, David? The Reaganomics that made the current moment inevitable? The idea that neofeudalism was good actually? The idea that a husband should be allowed to rape his wife? That AIDS was God's punishment for being gay? What ideas did you "earnestly" care about? This dichotomy is false.
When David Brooks joined the conservative movement in the 1980s, there were two types of people: those who cared earnestly about ideas, and those who wanted only to shock the left. The reactionary fringe has won, Brooks writes.

You may be fearing your 401k is no longer enough for you to retire. But with all the cuts to NIH and Medicare you also won't live as long. So the policies are integrated.

Neighbors must talk to each other, know who is an ally, people to sound alarms, misdirect, protect, or at least document. And absolutely not convinced these were all ICE, especially since this was in the Valley (which is basically Western Idaho).
On Monday, federal agents pulled three people over, broke through the windows of their white Chevy Silverado, dragged two brothers from the vehicle, injured them with a Taser and rifle and swept them to a federal immigration jail in Tacoma.
