Gamer, developer, family man. Not necessarily in any order.
Had a thing with eggplants before it was inappropriate.
Was this the best time to turn down job offers on Linkedin? Probably not. Did I allow myself to have a bit more fun than usual? Absolutely.

Just got a call from a representative of my most reviled insurance company. There's a ranking.

Had a chance to compare them to Hitler, the Devil and a criminal syndicate so I feel it was a productive call.

While I think I feel fine, I had all sorts of indications yesterday that I might be coming down with something. Ill omens, quite literally.

I wish the human body outputted better metrics. I'd be down with a "check engine" light popping up on my forehead.

Nativshark is absolutely the bomb and I cannot recommend it enough.
I have never known so much Japanese in my life.
It's so much better than Duolingo it's not even funny. The main reason being that Duolingo is terrible for languages that are very alien to the ones you already know.

Kids have been on a Spiderman craze lately so of course we just watched Across the Spider-Verse. Man that movie slaps.

Bonus - I now get to try and figure out which part of my setup couldn't quite handle the more visually intense scenes.

I mean, why would I want to just stand up and go to the kitchen when instead I can say "I want to stand up and go to the kitchen" and hope that happens and I don't end up drowning myself in the toilet instead?

I like agreeing with things, and boy do I agree with this: malwaretech.com/2025/08/ever...
Every Reason Why I Hate AI and You Should Too
maybe it's anti-innovation, maybe it's just avoiding hype. But one thing is clear, I'm completely done with hearing about AI.

I love how if you make enough changes in your codebase it will look like git is fed up with your shit.

Me: I created a whole bunch of files and moved some older ones around.
Git: $✘»!?

One of those games that absolutely deserves it. If Astrobot is a joy you can experience, I implore you to do so.

It is physically impossible for me to hear "drag & drop" and not think "ah yes, dragon drop".

What an exhausting time to be alive.

I friggin' love technology. Who needs eight hours of sleep when instead you can be up losing your marbles over why your AV receiver no longer automatically switches to the appropriate audio decoder.

Ditched these chumps during one of their previous waves of asshattery and couldn't be happier. They really do seem hellbent on going from bad to worse.
For Japanese - I highly recommend Nativshark.
Now I just need to find my kid something good for French. Suggestions are wildly welcome.
Duolingo confirms they're going to start replacing contractors with AI

Their CEO says they will become an 'AI-first' company

Two games down through @fellowtraveller.games's "Hits You Missed Megabundle" and both were absolute bangers.

Shogun Showdown by @roboatino.bsky.social is a delightful rogue-like deck-building thing. The decks are very lean and each card (or rather, tile) really pulls its weight.

The secret to laser tag is twofold:
- Shoot everyone
- Be everywhere

I don't post much, which is why I hope you take me seriously when I come here during the witching hour to tell you that @mandragoragame.com's game really took me by surprise. I mean I knew it looked good but when I spun up the demo I was woefully unprepared for how much I'd enjoy it.

*A chunk of solid ice containing my nose falls down on the floor and clinks loudly*
Oh right, I'm not wearing my neck-warmer.

Today of all days it is very important to observe the fact that It Takes Two by @hazelightgames.bsky.social is a phenomenal game. My kids devoured it rapidly, and so should you, assuming you have a cohort.
Also, their next undoubtedly awesome game is just around the corner. What a time to be alive.

It's important to remember that adversity is always an opportunity. An opportunity to be miserable.

Oh really, Mr. McTechRecruiter? You were really impressed with the work I did at my current company that has nothing to do with the job you're offering me? Well isn't that something.

This is a Terry Scott Taylor appreciation post. The man is a god dang musical genius.
I base this solely on the Neverhood's soundtrack, which serves as ample and irrefutable evidence.

Take ergonomics seriously. Your joints aren't hot-swappable. Heck, they're not even cold-swappable.

Driving is abhorrent and I detest it. I can't believe people do it for a living and get paid less than a boatload of money.

Sometimes it takes a child to get to the really tough questions. Questions like "why do all old people know Kung-Fu?".

Somehow, people following me as a form of advertisement is much more of a thing here than it was on Twitter. Does this tactic really entice anyone to buy into anything? I'll admit I mostly find it annoying because it's always very obviously a ploy.
