Yesterday was a very good day for democracy. But make no mistake — we’re entering the most treacherous part of the fight. The regime is too deep in corruption to give up easily. They’re facing an existential threat, and they will do ANYTHING to stay in power and avoid consequences.

Speaking as an Independent, I’m not as chuffed about Democratic wins as I am about winds blowing toward progressive reform. I’m all in for civic-minded candidates with integrity, and the will to fund quality education and universal healthcare. If some of them happen to be younger Dems, so be it.

It’s time to stop blaming and start listening to each other’s pain — to recognize that we’re all being hurt by the same forces. Once we understand that, we can begin working together to build a better country.
