I like art in all forms because it is free speech.
I like politics and history because if we don’t study it, we are doomed to repeat it.
I like a lot of people but detest those who exploit and manipulate.
I like campaign finance reform. 💙🥃

GOP needs to be sidelined for at least a decade to fix all the damage of the tRump Administration
PUNCHBOWL: “.. GOP members messaged us over the weekend saying that they, too, are considering retiring in the middle of the term. Here’s one particularly exercised senior House Republican:

X's location "transparency" feature showing many MAGA accounts are based internationally reveals what we already knew: The world is using American social media and American politics as a slot machine and social media companies are directly incentivizing this:

America’s Polarization Has Become the World's Side Hustle
The 'psyops' revealed by X are entirely the fault of the perverse incentives created by social media monetization programs.

"Garza alleges the executive delivered an hourlong tirade criticizing the company’s products, disparaging employees and customers, and making racially offensive remarks about Indian colleagues."

Executives do not care about you.

They care about stock prices.

Anything saying otherwise is PR.

100+ U.S. “wars” illegally started by US presidents wanting to be “war presidents” in order to be “great presidents.” Megalomaniac tRump wants his war in Venezuela. How do you think that will work out for him and our military personnel?! Were no better than Russia

Using False Claims to Justify War - JSTOR Daily
Hardly the recent innovation it’s frequently mistakened to be, deception as a path to war has been used by American presidents since the 1800s.

Net zero is cheaper than fossil fuel dependence.

That was my #1 takeaway from @iea.org's latest World Energy Outlook.

Don't let anyone tell you drill baby drill is about affordability.

“humanity’s collective demand on nature now exceeds the planet’s regenerative capacity by around 70%. Effectively, this means that, since the early 1970s, we have been living off the planet’s ‘capital’ rather than the accrued ‘interest’, jeopardizing our biosphere’s solvency”
An economist might celebrate a nation achieving record economic growth on one day, yet overlook a coral reef lying bleached and lifeless on another. This contradiction must be challenged, writes economist Partha Dasgupta in his elegant account of why the global economic system is exploiting,
Why the global economic system should value life on our planet, not exploit it
To preserve the natural world, economists should account for forests and wetlands as much as for factories and farms.

Billie Eilish asked an important question: "If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?"

There are FIVE ways to accumulate a billion dollars:

1) Profiting from a monopoly
2) Insider-trading
3) Political payoffs
4) Fraud
5) Inheritance

Billionaires are the result of a failed system.

Yep. Even psychotherapy services (and, of course, the broligarchs want AI to take the jobs of therapists). Beware the private equity companies that own Headway, Alma, Betterhelp, Grow, TalkSpace…(some are invested in by insurance companies like United, Aetna, Cigna too—vertically monopolizing)
Private equity is looting our malls, doctors' offices, and nursing homes.

Heck, you name it, and private equity has probably already bought it.

Their scheme spares no one. I’m fighting to stop it.

We need lots more Lima Kahn’s in government and in political office fighting the oligarchy on behalf of the people!
Just when I thought I couldn't appreciate Lina Kahn more: "we're at the tail end of a 40-year experiment in official tolerance and encouragements for monopolies and corporate predation. Those lost generations saw the construction of a massive edifice of bad case-law and judicial intuition."

Corrupt to the core
🧵Trump withdrew $870 million from the US account at the IMF.

It then miraculously appeared in Argentina's account.

This is convenient because Argentina owed $840 million to the IMF.

Trump took American taxpayers' money so his thug buddy Milei could pay his corrupt debt.
US drew $900mn from IMF account as Argentina debt payment loomed
Buenos Aires’s reserves rose by the same margin as Washington seeks to bolster Javier Milei’s government
