honestly it seems like all Satmars have realized that he is not anti-Semitic and simply breaking from the hysteria allowed the Aharonim to make the rational, cynical decision to bet on a winning horse

For my newsletter, I took a deeper look at the electoral record of WelcomePAC, a centrist group that produced that 352 page document advising Democrats to moderate once again.

Turns out the campaigns they work for aren't winning. www.burnsnotice.com/fire-the-con...

The Democratic party must move on from the same old stale, carefully poll-tested politics and get back to solving voters' problems. There are only three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Democra...

The Hasidic Jewish Community Council of Williamsburg is endorsing @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social today 🗽💞

Honestly happy (and slightly surprised of myself) to say: I am once again proud of the neighborhood I was raised in, the Hasidic community in Williamsburg!

ICE shot an American citizen and food bank worker who tried to block them arresting an immigrant by pulling his car in front of them.
After being released from hospital: "He is now facing charges for assault on a federal officer."

been thinking how revolutionary it would be if the farmworkers in the US got plots of the lands they work now. the ag equivalent of shutting down car dealership owners
it's not really "academia" though is it. It's the business and politics elites who have been installed at the top of university systems, public and private

this is what drives me nuts about modern liberalism. the institutional liberals are the "groups." the "groups" are coming from inside the fucking house. it's the phony and cynical deployment of identity politics in order to stifle grassroots activism that gets weaponized and sparks backlash

Spotted a real National Guard patrol in Dupont Circle (left) this morning … then an individual in ill-fitting fatigues and gear (right) shortly thereafter. Is this an actual guardsman? Did not appear to be a Halloween costume. It’s increasingly difficult to tell who’s legit, which seems dangerous.
not sure how to fix this without driving absolute hacks out of Amtrak
wait they actually believed this obvious lie???

great thread on spite, the basic lens to understand the senior officials in the democratic party
there's all the usual motivations of policy, ideology, and of course class interests, but i still think not enough gets said about how much raw spite factors into dem seniority's behavior
Chuck Schumer has refused to endorse Zohran Mamdani, and now refuses to even say he’ll vote for him as Mayor. Just a breathtaking new level of cowardice.

Won’t someone please primary this spineless failure of a leader?

a cool thing about this is the explicit invocation of transmission - a lot of good offshore wind in the US, Trump aside, but it is sold as a state by state economic development project with no interstate agreement to bolster transmissibility
This is what he and Obama talked about

can think of an argument by which it's less bad than an alternative.

The basic problem is that New England, partly through its own incompetence, is dependent on gas for electricity. The short term solution is to decouple electricity prices from gas so heat pumps are more economical.
it occurred to me after thinking about it that this is a really good example of sophistry.
he is right about indian point. It's also true that politicians should have a plan to reduce emissions. But then, he doesn't have a solution either, he's just justifying a destructive, bad project because he
there's a difference between empty acknowledgment of land being stolen that you have no plans to give back, issued to no one in particular, and trying to win potential Indian voters by acknowledging their role in the country and pointing out what you did for some of them lately
