Looking across a valley toward a low mountain. The nearby slopes are densely wooded with confiers including larch, which is turning pale yellow. Mt Gladstone in the distance is sparsely forested and showing snow in the dips and on the shaded side. The sky is sunnny/cloudy and the cloud shadows lay across the hills. Ktunaxa (Kootenay) First Nation, Nsyilxcən (Syilx Okanagan) speaking people, and Secwépemc (Shushwap) people shared this area.

A voice in my head sometimes questions the wisdom of a post or comment I've taken a notion to make.

That voice is usually right, and with practise I have grown better at hearing and heeding the first time it speaks. Sometimes all it has to do is discreetly clear its throat.

Facing 3/4 profile, unusually lit from behind so you have to pick his features out of the shadow. This was a technique favoured by some tintype photographers of the 1800s because the mid-tones preserved the forms of a person's face more faithfully than the full-on light. Standing facing us, leather jacket over one shoulder, shirtless, arm raised behind him. Looking left. Waist length. Sitting in the big chair, wanking with an assist, looking straight at us. A stitched panorama showing an expanse of fairly calm seawater a few inches deep over the mudflats, with a couple of islands/islets visible, then further away the waters of Clayoquot Sound, and lofty mountains in the distance. A photo of a dark pre dawn sky with a silhouette of a hill. The main feature is a twisting, curling, plume of a rocket launch from White Sands New Mexico. It is lit by sunlight in the dark sky because it's so high up in the atmosphere. Edges of the plume are mildly opalescent with strange oily color. The soft feathery end of the plume runs toward the right of the main towering part, a little higher than the hill top silhouette. Most of the plume is a brilliant white against the still dark sky.
