GSA locations adjacent to City buildings would force the City into a direct security/livability situation with protestors. It’s harder to ignore air horns, bull horns and standoffs happening on your street. But these are random thoughts I’m gaming out for their reasoning to abandon the facility.
The existing ICE facility on Macadam is a poor location for the Feds to secure long term. They would be better served unloading the property onto the City, with their agents operating out of other GSA properties nearby. Detention would be bypassed altogether and detainees sent straight to NWIPC.
Any update about what PPB Chief Bob Day discussed with Noem and Lewandowski? PPB is currently enforcing a 2 block exclusion zone for all pedestrians in front of the ICE facility.
They seem pretty chipper in the photo, buoyed by the fact that uniting their constituents around a common Federal enemy can divert some of the criticisms they’re facing here at home.
