2. Got my website back up and running, though it is simple (but that's okay!)
3. Started a Substack and wrote my first article.
I'm doing pretty alright I think. And it was a welcome distraction.

Today I got to have a sit down dinner and Kiki with my two fly ass godmothers. And we talked about mental health. They asked me about my dating life without judgment. They empathized with the challenges of being an adult.
I’m genuinely so warmed to have spent time with them.

I also think sometimes ppl try too hard to "write" as opposed to doing the requisite work of witnessing, hearing, and feeling.
I believe the most resonant creative writing happens when we write to the quick of the thing. But to do that, you have to experience it. In earnest. Without pretense.

I just realized that the reason so many people are bad at poetry (and creative writing generally) is that because great poetry sounds and feels effortless, people assume that it *is* effortless. When in truth that effortless quality is actually the result of hard creative work.
