Feels like I'm just posting to the void since I'm just getting started here, but why not. I write a weekly newsletter, and this week I write about how far away from reading and critical thinking we’ve come. It's lacking in our education, COVID learning loss, social media attention spans, all of it.
We need to get back to reading and critical thinking
Because 2024 feels different from 2016.

An American Muslim immigrant is now the mayor of NYC. A huge win for the people and a big fuck you to all the billionaires who tried to stop him.
I love my city! 🎉💙🎉

This is sad and all too suspicious. Teen Vogue had some of the best political journalism in a sea of journalism lacking moral clarity.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

One of my favorite things about Halloween in NYC. Diane Keaton, I see you doing the Thriller dance back there.

Halloween this year felt special. One night to get our minds off *waves arms around* all this. Pure fun and joy.

This model of convenience over ownership benefits corporations who own our data. What’s insidious about a subscription society is the marketing of an illusion of infinite choice, but how much convenience are you willing to trade for dependence?

Please donate to your local food bank.
It's really unfathomable that in a few days time, SNAP benefits will run out and millions to go hungry. This government doesn't take care of its own, so what is left to do but for communities to look out for each other?

"Kids do stupid things."
No JD. Those weren't kids in that chat. And most kids I know don't say or text vile racist shit.
Know what else? No one is surprised. This just exposes them for what we've already known.
But go ahead and threaten universities over antisemitism. It never was about that.

The fact that an influencer gets the American flag flown at half-staff while an elected government official does not is a pretty accurate snapshot of America right now.

This is an absolute shit show of a day in America. I don't wish gun violence on anyone, not even that guy. Who do we want to be as a country? Not this.

This is just going to erode trust from the S. Korean govt after pledging $150B investments in the US. Why would any company want to build here. He wants to bring manufacturing to the US but then pulls this shit where workers are chained & shackled? They should pull out—foreign employees are at risk.

I did not know that survivors of Epstein and Maxwell's abuse are speaking out today until I read Jenna's piece here. Spotlight needs to be solely on them until the Trump administration quits being cowardly and releases everything relevant to the investigation.

Today, I stand with the Epstein survivors.
We need to listen to these women. We need to believe them. Not Ghislaine Maxwell, not Speaker Johnson or Nancy Mace, and not the president. They've been silenced for decades and need our support as they stand at the Capital steps and tell their stories.

In America, we don't protect our children. Not from pedophiles or rapists, and not from guns.

Today, Minneapolis, and the school year has just begun.💔

Every once in a while I miss being an active designer in a community where we critique the shit out of a rebrand. Holy hell this is bad. Kerning that makes it look like a feminist mag, the flag shape, lines in the tagline that read like navigation. This is supposed to look like a source we trust?

It's absolutely mind boggling that only 1000 new jobs were added in NYC in the first half of the year. This is compared to 66,000 jobs the same time last year. You can feel the slowdown in tourism in the city too. This is only the beginning of the fallout of his nonsense policies. It's coming.

DC today, NYC tomorrow. He isn't going to stop with D.C. Anyway, release the Epstein files. It's all a distraction.

“There is no science without fancy, and no art without facts.”

We’ve been conditioned to think there's a rift between artistic intuition and scientific reasoning but they're interconnected and rooted in observation and inquiry. Art and science are just different expressions of how we see the world.

We don't need celebrities joining and recruiting for ICE WTF. We need more teachers! We're headed towards a teaching shortage in 5-10 yrs, maybe less. We should be raising wages and offering signing bonuses to teachers, not towards masked agents kidnapping innocent legal immigrants for god's sakes.

Lawyers trying to paint Ghislaine Maxwell a victim and a scapegoat who's been treated unfairly and living under terrible conditions is such a slap in the face to survivor victims.
July 25, 2025 at 5:29 PM
Caught in the middle of this Epstein file drama are the survivor victims who are reliving their trauma in the news every single day. Children were raped. Powerful people covered it up. Multiple victims have already sued the FBI for failing to protect them. Why do we always protect the wrong people?

It's gonna be weird not seeing the Late Show marquee at the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway after next May. This wasn't "purely financial," this is about media control.

Hope Colbert goes scorched earth in the next 10 months. CBS doesn't deserve his show & I'm sorry for the 200 people out of a job.

Overheard in Seattle: a mom explaining to her elementary school-aged kid how Mamdani won the Democratic nominee for NYC mayor but that Cuomo might still run as an independent. 3,000 miles away and it really is the summer of Zohran.
