👋🏾 I’m Jerome Hardaway, nicknamed the “Captain America of Code” by Barack Obama.

I specialize in Data, UI, and AI.
By day, I fight disinfo with software.
By night, I build features for Vets Who Code to help more veterans break into software engineering.
I had a blast on my latest talk. Being able to speak about GitHub Copilot at Microsoft. Last speaking engagement of the year and for a minute, cause my new role is even more demanding.

Facts. Most all small nonprofits are small cause they are actually spending the money on providing services, not on fundraisers and galas and shit.
Less than 10% of the money Susan G. Komen brings in goes to breast cancer research
I know people who have seen the finances and about 1% goes to charity

It’s one of the reasons why AI safety has become a passion of mine. I’ve been in the meetings where white dudes are dismissive and say, “we will have legal handle it.”
i believe it

i heard a *tiny* portion of what it entails from the darknet web diaries podcast, and i knew i never wanted anything to do with it

a thankless and often soul crushing job

I say this from grand scale experience: content moderation is one of the toughest jobs out there.

This feels like a prayer almost. I love it.
I will not grieve people whose only connection to my life is through the wrongs they have done. I owe them nothing and I reserve the right to celebrate how their death makes my life an inherently better place. That doesn't make me their killer, that simply makes me someone they cannot wrong again.

It was my job to study and analyze Charlie Kirk. I took every piece of content he made and created a data pipeline to leverage it as a knowledge base with AI. If you have anyone in your immediate circle saying anything beyond the fact that he was a horrible right-wing propagandist, run.

The project he had the alarmed me the most that frankly no one was speaking about was the 5C charter school program, a Christian charter school program that focused on indoctrinating K-12 with his ideology.

Charlie Kirk never spoke above a seventh grade reading level. Data shows that going above this alienates majority of Americans so he kept is conversations at that level. I researched a decade of his content, never went above that. Never pulled a Stephen Miller and used “Cosmopolitan” in a sentence.

While he was not a political figure, he was a powerful political citizen. To the point that the number one political conversation the first three months of this year was about who could be the Charlie Kirk of the left. It was a puzzle that democrats and civic engagement orgs spent millions on.

Charlie Kirk was one of the top ten originators of right-wing propaganda in America. When he wasn’t creating it he was bankrolling and training people in it.

The puff pieces that have dropped. Oof. I’ll subscribe for a year to the first media company that has some bravery and write about Charlie Kirk for real.

I can only say what I know and a 200 yard shot with the 14 mph wind in Utah is not something a lucky person can do.
What's your opinion on the bullet placement? I shot a lot as a kid and while the audio wasn't great, the shot was relatively silent and seemed to be over a decent range. My intuition is the shooter is highly skilled, but I'm out of practice and don't know my ass from my elbow with guns anymore

The folks who great-grandparents used to take kids to lynchings sure have a lot to say about empathy today…

I have no idea what white people are talking about right now. The warnings that the fascists will "use this" to do more violence. WHAT WON'T THEY USE? You've watched them deploy the US military on US soil using bullshit pretexts. What even are you talking about?
September 10, 2025 at 9:09 PM
One of Charlie Kirk’s many projects was setting up propagandist K-12 schools. 5C charter schools. Your community might have one.
September 10, 2025 at 9:22 PM
As a person who been the shooter and shot at, I think you need to watch the video. The country needs to see the consequences of its actions.
September 10, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Charlie Kirk was not a politician, so this is not political violence. It’s revolutionary violence, the same distinction as the violence in Nepal. These are two private citizens with one happened to have ties to the State and it’s rhetoric but neither is an elected official. Get it right newspeople.

Lot of Dems with short term memories trying to use this moment be human to folks that wouldn’t pee on you if you were on fire.
Anyone remember Minnesota democrats politicians who go shot earlier this year?

Has the media updated us on that in the same way they are acting today?

Serious questions.

Charlie is a private citizen. FBI ain’t gonna come knocking on your door if you laugh at the irony of this L.
September 10, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Civilians are weird. In the military I had never witnessed anyone try to take the high road when someone gets exactly what they deserve.
September 10, 2025 at 7:43 PM
I spent a good portion of this year using Data Engineering and AI tracking all of Charlie Kirks operations and if you knew what I knew you'd honestly be shocked that it took this long for this to happen.

Question: Should I do a roundtable at a conference that I feel isn’t giving me proper billing?
