Union leader, experienced board director, Secretary of Unions Tasmania. Deeply passionate about trade unions, women’s right, workplace safety, and improving the rights of working people.
For twenty years, I’ve fought for workers and their families. I want to take all I’ve learnt, and all I believe, into the Tasmanian Parliament as a member of the Tasmanian Labor team. Here’s a bit about me 👇 #politas #auspol #tasmania #workersrights

As a Tasmanian who is pretty engaged in politics, now seems like a very ill timed moment to hop on a plane and be without internet. You’ll tell me what happens, right? #politas

The Tasmanian Premier, in a fight for his political future, has now apparently ruled out #privatisation he was spruiking just days ago. When politicians push a barrow for months/years then expect us to believe they’ve changed on the eve of an election, they’re taking us for fools #politas #auspol

There is a deep irony in the Tasmanian Parliament live stream crashing because of demand and just when we need it most, like so many other things here in #Tasmania #politas #auspol

My friend Gina, wonderful human and staunch union delegate, has recently been the subject of horrific #genderedviolence

Her union is organising a fundraiser to help get her some funds quickly. If you can donate, please do.

Billionaires just work harder than the rest of us. Trickle down economics works. If you have a go, you’ll get a go. Sacking 41,000 public servants won’t hurt services to the community. Peter Dutton would be a caring and compassionate prime minister 😂

How about the Tasmanian Liberals focus on putting in the promised safety protections from two years ago on Metro buses instead of trying to sell our only public bus service to the highest bidder?? #politas #auspol #privatisation #proudtobepublic www.themercury.com.au/news/tasmani...

Happy #EightHourDay #Tasmania! We have a public holiday today because of unions and the collective action of workers fighting for an 8 hour work day. I'm proud to be a union member and part of a movement that works to improve people's lives every day #ausunions #auspol #union #labourday

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

Hey Tassie friends. This is on today! 👇
We're rallying for #internationalwomensday at 12.30pm in Franklin Square. Because #IWD is a protest day, not a cupcake day. All welcome (except terfs, bigots, that sort of nonsense). We've got an amazing guest speaker in Ged Kearney too! #aupsol #politas

The wages of the richest 1% have skyrocketed 182% since 1979.

Meanwhile, the wages of the bottom 90% have seen just 44% growth.

Trickle down economics was always a hoax.

I don’t think Peter Dutton intends to match Labor on increased bulk billing. Two reasons why:

1. As Health Minister, Dutton tried to introduce an extra fee for visiting the GP.

2. He wants to sack 36,000 public sector workers. Hot tip: public servants work for #Medicare #auspol
February 23, 2025 at 8:03 PM
This is a great announcement. The cost of healthcare is a big contributor to financial pressure for families (especially if you have small kids or chronic illness). This is what good Labor governments do #auspol #medicare

Labor's 'legacy-defining' Medicare election pitch to voters
Labor says nine out of 10 GP visits will be free from out-of-pocket expenses by 2030 under an $8.5 billion Medicare election funding promise, announced by the prime minister today.

This is disgraceful. And no, I’m not naive enough to think it didn’t happen. I’ve worked with many independent school teachers. It’s just they said it out loud, like there was nothing wrong with #discrimination at all #politas

Ah, the Tasmanian health service covering itself in glory again. Sweltering conditions inside the Launceston General Hospital, an ongoing problem as staff & patients given icy poles instead of a working cooling system. Unions are the ones standing up for patient & member safety #politas #auspol

Dutton unable to give a coherent explanation for why Liberals will slash 36,000 public sector jobs.
February 3, 2025 at 12:29 AM
Peter Dutton intends to cut government spending - code for jobs - but, don't worry, he'll let us know where and how AFTER he is elected. I guess we should just... trust him??? That's a big 'no' from me #auspol

Dutton vows to cut 'wasteful' spending, but will detail his plans after election
The opposition leader has reiterated his plans to shrink the public service as part of his plan to curb government spending, but he declined to specify exactly where the cuts would come from.

Dutton creating a shadow ministry for “government efficiency” implies the public sector is wasteful. It’s not. He wants you to think of tired (and incorrect) stereotypes of public servants rather than as essential workers delivering services like Medicare and the NDIS #auspol
