The biggest paper of my career dropped recently! ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2025arXi... A Systematic Search for MeV-GeV Pulsar Wind Nebulae without Gamma-ray Detected Pulsars - ADS

🧪🔭 this was an immense work that took up the majority of my PhD AND postdoctoral years.
A Systematic Search for MeV-GeV Pulsar Wind Nebulae without Gamma-ray Detected Pulsars
An increasing number of pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe) are being identified in the TeV band by ground-based Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes such that they constitute the dominant source class of Galactic...

I would give anything to go back to the time when the budget cuts Goddard was dealing with was discontinuing office trash removal 😭

Making America great again means cutting everything that used to make us great . Checks out

Talks ramping up regarding whether our space mission will be decommissioned following the skinny budget release 🥺 went from discussions of sustaining high energy astronomy to whether US involvement in astronomy will exist at all in 4 months.

We need an emoji or meme that is basically the sound of squidward frowning. Not just frowning but the sound. Millennials know what I mean.

Bless my mother. Trying to help me find jobs unprompted lol. But it is not all that helpful. Its jobs for “asteroid and small bodies supervisor” or “astrobiology supervisor”. I have basically zero overlap with the expertise needed for those positions as a high energy astrophysicist.

Parenthood is being thrown up on in the middle of the night and deciding to sit in it bc the baby immediately fell back asleep. It was a calculated risk.

A paper in Nature presents evidence of the highest-energy cosmic neutrino detected to date. Its energy is estimated to be around 30 times higher than any neutrino previously detected. The result suggests that the particle came from beyond our Milky Way. 🧪 🔭
Observation of an ultra-high-energy cosmic neutrino with KM3NeT - Nature
A very high-energy muon observed by the KM3NeT experiment in the Mediterranean Sea is evidence for the interaction of an exceptionally high-energy neutrino of cosmic origin.

The most effective way to review federal funding to remove “woke ideologies” is to just search in each grant text for exactly “woke ideology”. You will find 95%+ of woke ideologies this way. Everyone I know uses this term in grant proposals.

Does/did anyone else’s baby sleep in the most frightening positions?

We practice safe sleep, but now that she is rolling over its her favorite sleep position combined with being oddly close to the sides of her bassinet.

This afternoon!
I give a talk at #AAS245 on Thursday in room 12 at 310pm as part of the “Characterizing Neutron Star Systems” session 😊 🔭 come hear about searching for pulsar wind nebulae with the Fermi Large Area Telescope!

I know where the nursing rooms at #AAS245 are if any other nursing moms need to know! It took a minute even with AAS help 😊 thanks to the volunteer though that walked me there.
