Big fan of reading! PhD student at BU, practicing school psych (NCSP), UW alum. I study the development & implementation of evidence based practices for mental health & academic instruction in schools. Distance mountain trail runner & pianist for fun.
I like how over the years and given political shifts, my global angst has increased yet my workload remains absolutely unhinged. 🫠🫠🫠

I’m sorry but if you aren’t talking about Bayesian statistics and running ultramarathons with the methodologist on your committee at 10am on a Monday morning, then what ARE you doing?????

Increasingly concerned with the withholding of information in our country through the destruction of public media, restrictions of funding to education, and increasing privatization of research. Thinking a lot about how this withholding impacts the ideologies we have access to and enact.

Avery went on a whole rant about the importance of mentorship and “building strong relationships” in life (literally her words as she emphatically waves her hands around while she makes her argument). She unpacked her ideas around “over resourced” ppl & mentorship as a buffer for lack of resources.

Today Avery told me that in her friend group everyone thinks I’m the “cool mom” but she said “don’t worry, I dispel that myth because you are so cringe sometimes and also you are the strictest mom in the group as well.”

We really don't spend enough time just stating that Trump hates good things.

Green infrastructure and biking are among the best things in cities and only retrograde losers think otherwise.
NEW: U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has ordered officials to stop action on all Biden-era discretionary grants to build bike lanes and other "green infrastructure" so the agency can review the project for possible removal.

NASP is fun because it’s like I go to dinner with my bff and we roleplay using ACT in a therapy session for our colleagues over peanut noodles 🤷‍♀️

Been running around these streets like crazy. no place like home ♥️

this one is breaking my heart. it’s so cruel and meaningless
“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”
Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

There are a whole lot of people right now who want collective punishment more than they want a good society.

Somehow, they expect they will personally be spared. And they’re wrong.

Hoping science is still alive for the little fourth grader who won for her grade this past weekend (second year in a row!) ♥️

If you or someone you know has had a particular research project suspended by recent actions at IES, please get in touch either by DM or by replying here.

There are journalists who'd like to report on this.

Grateful for educators who are moving quickly to protect & preserve essential resources that support teaching & learning.

The educator in me is also not surprised. We are savvy because we are so used to doing more with less.
All practice guides are in the public domain.

Just in case...

this is so incredibly backwards.

Employ EBPs. Teach people to be literate. Literacy is power.
Hearing from a govt contractor that Dept of Education is terminating What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) contracts.
WWC is a website that rigorously evaluates education policies, programs, and products to determine what's effective and not. It's an invaluable tool for school, district, state leaders
