Re: literature that has taken hold in pop culture, specifically Margaret Atwood, I often wonder why The Handmaid's Tale gets more traction than the Maddaddam Trilogy, which I think is a bleaker and more spot-on dystopian vision.

Overlooked Environmental Issue: If the PRC deciding to switch its soybean supplier from the US to Brazil due to the tariff tantrums means that more of the rain forest will be bulldozed, wouldn't it be an even better long-term investment in planet Earth if the US just gave the soybeans away for free?

I know of no situation now in which I would choose to sit down and watch three hours of every Brother Theodore visit to David Letterman in a row.
I loved his act and Letterman's reactions when watching Late Night back then but frustratingly could not explain why it was funny to anyone the next day.
