100% this. Comparison is the thief of joy, esp when it comes to writing/publishing journeys. Much better to really celebrate EVERY win you have as a writer, whether that be winning a competition, getting an agent etc. Quite honestly, completing an actual novel deserves a bottle of champagne, IMO...
I don't know many things, but I do know that comparing yourself and your writing journey to another author and their journey is the fastest route to Misery town. I had to train myself to stop comparing, I don't always manage it, but when I do it always makes me so unhappy. Eyes on the road ahead 🖤

Couldn't agree more. This is so short-sighted when editors are give so little time and head space to really edit...
Thinking about that new ranking system for editors and honestly my heart goes out to editors at the moment - they're under so much pressure, without enough support (in terms of numbers of editors, in terms of staffing in other teams) and adding a system of direct comparisons into that feels HARSH.

Definitely this! We all love to read - we just need to find the medium that works best...
CHOICE is key to becoming a reader. When kids are given a wide range of books to choose from, and are allowed to choose freely - THEY READ! I don’t believe in “reluctant readers” - just readers who haven’t yet found the right books for them. So it’s our job to help them find those books! #literacy
