A new dam on the Klabava River south of Prague to protect critical habitat hit bureaucratic delays…but a colony of beavers took things into their own paws, building a series of dams in the same locations the engineers had planned, creating a wetland that saved the Czech govt 1.2M euros.

I had this lovely encounter during a quick walk around campus yesterday! It felt like a reward for getting outside, and a reminder of how close we can be to something wonderful without even knowing it.

We’ve spoken to the penguins on Heard and McDonald Islands, and while they declined to comment at this time, rest assured they’re taking the matter very seriously.

Just some Canadians trying to figure out #tariffs rates. I know the big man south of 49° said "tariff" is his favourite word in the dictionary, but looking at this math, it doesn't seem like anyone down there...read the dictionary?

Not a very optimistic thought, but still, a good question to ask...
The thing we learned from Web2 is that the most impactful businesses became the most impactful by optimizing for addiction.

Which means we should all ask, how would you optimize generative AI for addiction? Whatever makes it the most addictive is probably what it will become.

I know this is not very important, relatively speaking, but can we collectively find even one more verb for the application of tariffs beside "slap"? #elbowsup

"Make no mistake, not addressing basic human needs, such as a place to stay, enough food or access to primary care, reflects a political weakness in Canada when it comes to fixing what are solvable problems."

National identity and global trade are for people who already have housing & healthcare.
The 2025 federal election is the most important of our lives. I hope it starts soon.

All the parties involved, so far, are just rolling out the same old tactics that are more prone to stoking cynicism than encouraging sober consideration. #Opinion

If this is the most consequential election of our lifetimes, why does it feel so much like all the others? If the situation for Canada is so dire, should voters

This is the right question to be asking, given the state of the world...

A couple months ago I was at a pub with my siblings and was delighted to recognize the epic bassline of "Guns of Brixton" rolling out live from the back corner where the local band was stashed.

Voted in our provincial election today; it was easy, relaxed, and felt very normal. Thanks to the poll workers and to everyone voting for helping democracy to run smoothly 🍁

We watched the joyful and poignant #ComeFromAway yesterday with Mirvish in Toronto, and what a great #Canadian story for our moment! So proud of those Newfies who showed all of #Canada who we want to be.

It also hits very differently than when we first saw the musical 5 yrs ago. [1/2]

Did you know that Christians who take the actual Bible seriously are often on the front lines of climate action?

I know this may be a surprising & jarring claim in the US, where “evangelical” has become synonymous with opinions + positions completely at odds w/ Christian theology.

Here’s why:
