Lots of people on social media suggesting that the 12 randomly selected jurors must have been biased because they all agreed to acquit the six activists accused of smashing up Israeli drones used to kill children in Gaza.

That argument really isn't the win they seem to think it is.

It took considerable courage for the jury in the Palestine Action trial to ignore the demands to convict from the judge, government, police and media and instead to weigh the actual evidence.

My latest sets out why jurors were right to reject all the bullying: www.jonathan-cook.net/blog/2026-02...

The jury were right to acquit the Palestine Action defendants. Here's why
Jurors bravely set aside social conditioning, the natural instinct we all share to defer to authority, and expectations fomented by establishment media. Instead they considered the actual evidence

Ex-ambassador Craig Murray explains how the Palestine Action trial was rigged by the government, police and judge to secure convictions – and yet still the jury refused to do as they were told.

They had good reason, as Murray explains: www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/202...

Entirely reasonable that there's so much fury that a jury of 12 ordinary people, having heard all the evidence, has reached a verdict that does not accord with the directions of the judge, Starmer's government and the billionaire-owned media.

Who do these people think they are?

A handful of figures will be sacrificed - but only to protect a wider culture that believes rules don't apply to the ruling elite.

If you are baffled by why the jury refused to convict the Palestine Action defendants, it's because – unlike them – you didn't hear the actual evidence. You heard what the media wanted you to know.

Here, I explain what the jury learnt from the trial: jonathancook.substack.com/p/barristers...
Barrister's powerful speech at Filton Trial reminds jury of its right to defy judge
Starmer and the media need convictions to justify Palestine Action's proscription as a terrorist group. Rajiv Menon KC spells out to the jury why it is a vital last defence against government tyranny

The UK government pinned its case for declaring Palestine Action a terrorist organisation largely on the trial of the so-called Filton Six, claiming they had proved the group to be violent.

A jury today found none of them guilty of any of the charges.

If ex-UK ambassador Craig Murray's view from the ground in Caracas sounds so plausible, it's chiefly because the US throttling of Venezuela to destroy a rival model of economic governance is a long staple of US aggression abroad.

Quite sickening to hear Wes Streeting and other ministers accuse Peter Mandelson of "betraying Labour party values".

This is a government whose values did not just embrace child abuse. They actively colluded in the slaughter of children in Gaza by the tens of thousands.

International law is clear. If the US attacks Iran, it would be a war of aggression. The job of even supposedly liberal media like the Guardian is to persuade you this is not what is at stake. To disbelieve your lying eyes.

Reform scents power, so what does it do? It creates a Friends of Israel group.

After all, which self-respecting, mainstream party doesn't wish to offer a warm welcome to genocide supporters?

Lots of people arguing that it's ok for Trump to attack Iran because Iran killed its own people.

So do they think it was ok for Russia to attack Ukraine because for years Ukraine killed its own people in Donbas?

If not, why?

There are already deep layers of deceit from western politicians regarding Iran. But that’s not enough for the BBC, which needs to add more of its own.

Remember Biden's disastrous "aid pier" to Gaza that broke apart the first time it faced a bit of rough weather. Trump's "Board of Peace" is no more serious as a solution for rebuilding Gaza.

I explain why here: www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/trum...
Trump’s 'Board of Peace' is the nail in Gaza’s coffin
Feckless European leaders like Starmer let Israel and the US tear up international law in Gaza. Now, faced with Greenland and Ukraine, they are suffering from a severe case of buyer’s regret

The Guardian finds it perverse that Putin has been invited to join the Board of Peace.

That's the same Board to which fugitive war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu has also been invited and that will be chaired by Israel's main arms supplier, Donald J Trump.
