✨ Hello! I'm Ae, I read a lot of books and manga, I like shoujosei and vintage anime and my all time favorite thing is The Rose of Versailles! ✨

i think a lot of ppl who think manga demos are pointless project a lot of their own incuriosity in reading outside shonen onto shoujo fans when in actuality a majority of shoujo readers read EVERYTHING whether it be genre or demos (partially due to necessity or you'd get nothing)
Fun little short stories. They work very well, they have clear structure & the storytelling is easy to follow. While I had a clear favorite (the last story!) I don't really have that much to say about these other than that they were nice. The author however seems promising, I hope they keep writing!
Reread of an old favorite. This time Anna Liisa's trauma stood out a lot more. She's not shy & quiet naturally, nor is she evil, men & the society got her where she is. And she still has the strength to take accountability of her own crime.

Also Mikko SUCKS I hope he rots.

oh they're just selling actual merch of this scene now okay
Hey not to be annoying about this but the char clone now has a humanoid doll that can fly and which he uses in battle...
Oh 7 Seeds is something I have to read, I've heard good things! I've only read her shorter works, would like to see what she can do with longer series like Basara/7 seeds.
All in all, the anime did what it was supposed to: got me interested to read the manga. However, this is an early series written before Basara, which I haven't read. I'm sure Tamura is able to examine the story details I found interesting much more in debth in a longer series, so I'll read Basara!
As it's probably clear, this is a 2 episode OVA series (44mins per episode) so the budget isn't high. When it's bad it's not good, but there're moments when the staff got very creative, which stood out and I really liked!
While I'm quite new to Yumi Tamura's works, there're things here that I've noticed she tends to enjoy writing: strong female lead, male leads that are complete opposites and great banter. While this isn't that great of an anime (not mangaka's fault), it's a good peek into what Tamura has to offer.
The premise is a bit ridiculous & the anime having to cut things definitely doesn't help. But a lot of action series are like that, action is fun when it's cheesy. And if it's action shoujo you want then this definitely delivers.
Wached Tomoe's Run! (Tomoe ga Yuku! 1991) based on shoujo manga legend Yumi Tamura's manga of the same name. A 2 ep anime is not an ideal way to experience an 8 volume series, but this is still has thought out character arcs, interesting relationships and clever direction work.
*fave even. I cannot type nor do I know how to proofread.
Same for anime, I cannot look at that list and not see Wata no kuni hoshi listed
I have to update my face manga list, I've been reading too much peak (I cried bc of Children of the Whales today)
(Old-Fashioned Cupcake is a romance series too I guess, but it having a protag nearing his 40s and being lost with life is more important, especially in the first volume, than the romance. And Heart of Thomas is a bildungsroman).
Then Bravern/LOGH might actually be a good start! Banana Fish might also work, as it's an action series first and the BL elements are on the background. The rest of these are "actual" BL, but I'd say only Seven Days is a romance series.
As popular as BL is online, a lot of it is only one volume long in Japan and rarely gets sequels. If you can find multi volume BL, you're in luck! But that also means there's a lot of variety. BL is diverse so there's something for everyone! (+ 1 more rec)
Non-BL answer is LOGH (haven't finished it but the shipping possibilities are endless and it's Gundam's sister fandom). Bravern too was fun, if you want mecha!

Otherwise these are the ones I like (check tw's if needed!):
