I'm getting my grandmother's bookcase from her living room along with the books. All are Readers' Digest

Books that changed me as a kid:
The Chronicles of Narnia. Introduced me to the fantasy genre
Secrets. Introduced me to Anne Frank
My Story. Introduced me to Historical Fiction.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

"True leadership isn't won with brutality or intimidation. To be a leader, one must have patience, wisdom, empathy and resilience. Moreover, a great leader is about winning hearts and minds"

I should really read Le Guin at some point
JK Rowling never in 1000 years could be on Ursula K Le Guin's level. Stop fucking reading Harry Potter and read The Books Of Earthsea.

JK Rowling is no Lucy Maud Montgomery, far from it.

Some books that has never received a print run for at least twenty years should get priority over rereleases of the same book. Do we need yet another Harry Potter rerelease when the books are a dime a dozen in Charity Shops, when there are books that haven't been rereleased in decades.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

Had two fire engines and police in our street this morning at 4am. One of our neighbours had their box set alight by someone, and police are wondering if it's related to several cars in our local area being vandalised.

Siblings and I have the house to ourselves. Long story short, parents are going down south as my nan is in hospital, and from what my dad's been told, the doctors had to revive her already today. Basically, she might not survive the night. So they have gone down to say goodbye to her, as Dad

The Chronicles of Narnia. I also remember reading a fantasy novel in which one of the quotes was ""Hugo!" she screamed." I have been thinking about the book for the past year or so
9. When you think back on your childhood, what book comes to mind as your favorite?

Harry Potter fans and Rowling fans cannot take criticism at all, and there are better female authors and better series you can get into
It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

Got suspended from Wplace for writing a list of "Better female authors than Rowling" by a Rowling fan. But it proves that Harry Potter and J.K Rowling fans attack people who point out that Rowling isn't that good of a writer and Harry Potter is mediocre

A week ago, I dreamed that Radio 2 would play When the Beat Drops Out on a Wednesday afternoon, just before 3.30pm. Sure enough, that happened this afternoon

We are not a Harry Potter theme park. Do come for the scenery, history and the literature. There are other books than Harry Potter.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Do not come to the United Kingdom just to see Harry Potter-related tourist attractions. Do not visit Kings Cross station just so you can visit the Harry Potter tat shop with a massive queue outside. Do come here to visit queer bookshops.
Gonna just say, if it's this easy to protest against the monolith that is Disney. Then there is no excuse for people to be clinging to Harry Potter. Like, if the needle can be moved against Disney, people can make it move against JK Rowling. Stop the flow of money into her accounts,

This is why I'm getting rid of the Harry Potter stuff.
The reaction Disney fans are having makes think maybe the Harry Potter fans are just bigots who don’t care after all.
just saw a tiktok from a disney adult reading from On Tyranny and asking their followers to cancel their d+ and disney trips omg

You know something? JK Rowling is on the wrong side of history, not just with LGBTQIA rights, but the Israel-Gaza conflict. Hind Rajab will be remembered, a six year old girl whose last moments were filled with terror, as rescuers tried to save her. I thought back to a sketch I drew back in October

This isn't just transphobia, it's also ableism
"Women could sue organisations for harassment if they allow trans women into single-sex spaces under new equalities guidance which has been submitted to ministers." [Times]

Starting to sew the bags. Trying to find where to sell them. The Harry Potter fabric was brought ages ago but ended up being forgotten about. Once they're gone, that's it. No more

So, Graham Linehan has been arrested. Good. There is a line between free speech and hate speech, and if hate speech includes calls for violence then yeah, you'd get arrested as you've crossed the line. That and posting people's photos without consent as he broke privacy laws
