STREETS OF FIRE on 70mm! With rare appearance by director Walter Hill - he said he hadn't seen the movie since it hit screens 41 years ago. Great Q&A with @kjrelthmiller.bsky.social

Actually crying. We so wanted him to join us for ERASERHEAD at the museum, but his health wasn’t in a good place. A life-changing visionary to anyone who has ever seen his movies.

The Academy Museum is reopening today with screenings resuming as scheduled.

I’ll be there to introduce, and watch, our 2p COOL HAND LUKE screening. I really need a movie right now.

Love this pic of the wife @kjrelthmiller.bsky.social with Cronenberg from this past weekend. He's making a great face.

disclosure: I was SO nervous last night. I raaarely get nervous before Q&As but this one was special + so many friends & my mom were there! Then some @$$ clown shouted something as I was reading Cronenberg’s bio & it totally threw me. Ultimately had a dreamy time & will remember the night forever 🥰

This Wikipedia bit he kept returning to did NOT get old. The man can do no wrong.
David Cronenberg telling the Academy's KJ Relth-Miller that he hasn't seen eXistenZ in 20 years and needed to look up facts about it online.

Pinching myself. I am so damn lucky. Can’t wait to converse with Cronenberg tomorrow night after eXistenZ. Standby line will be in full effect — and everyone got in for Videodrome tonight! See you there.

Just learned through an IG friend that works by Greer Lankton are currently on display at @moma.bsky.social in an exhibit titled Vital Signs: Artists and the Body, on view through Feb 22. Her dolls strike deep, complicated feelings in me both familiar and unknowable. NYers should seek out this show!

I’m so enamored of this movie that whenever I hear Springsteen’s “It’s Hard to Be a Saint in the City” I literally swoon. My highest recommend on this forthcoming release!
“Trenton Makes, The World Takes.” Look forward to the Sheik and Jill in 2025 from FCE. #BabyItsYou #JohnSayles #RosannaArquette #VincentSpano #FunCityEditions

My most successful resolution was in 2017 when I committed to watching at least 1 film per day (average). Have stuck with it for 8 years & don’t plan to stop.

Don’t expect anyone else to relate or care, but I’ve made a few goals for myself in 2025. Trying to keep them light and achievable!

Been spending the last week with my mom, who is three weeks post immunotherapy treatment for lymphoma. Seems fitting to spend NYE at The Crab Cooker, an Orange County institution our family has frequented for major occasions & celebrations since the 1960s.

Here’s to a healthy & happy 2025 to all.
