…This day, I came across a large group of Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) cleaning themselves in the ocean and resting at the edge of the tide pools. I managed to capture this stunning individual showing off its breeding plumage.
When I first started tide pooling, I wasn’t the most successful finding intertidal critters. I focused a lot on shorebirds and water wading birds while tide pooling...
It’s beautiful seeing how the early morning sun hits the colors of the desert and it just so happens that Burrowing Owls (Athene cunicularia) share that same color palette.

…Breach after breach, I was stunned by the power and beauty these beings posses and towards the end of the day, I finally managed to capture a breach on camera. There is nothing like the sight and sounds of 35+ ton whale leaping out of the water and landing back in it.
