Just spent the last ½ hour talking someone down off the ceiling after she self diagnosed a pelvic ultrasound image using AI as a molar pregnancy when, in fact, it was an image of her ovary. Giving people access to their medical imaging records is a huge mistake.

This is why astrophotographers and telescope operators despise Musk and Starlink. Virtually all of those moving dots are Starlink.

Spotted these mushrooms along the trail this morning. They're 'Shaggy Mane' mushrooms and are supposed to be edible but I think they scream 'don't touch me'!

I'm 2/3 through the new Dan Brown audiobook, 'The Secret of Secrets'. I'm now fast forwarding and skipping large chunks. I like a little background info on unfamiliar technology but the relentless charachters monologuing on the minutiae of the technology was starting to feel nauseating.

This is my favorite place, my sanctuary, where I go at sunrise, just to gear down, to exercise, to find my peace. The wildfire smoke is horrible at times but makes for pretty pictures.

Western Veil Nebula captured July 1st in my Bortle 7 backyard. 3.3 hrs total integration, Redcat 51, unmodded Nikon D5600 with IDAS LP2 filter, 50mm Starfield guidescope with ZWO guide camera, HEQ5 Pro mount. Stacked and processed in Pixinsight. Still struggling with PI but swearing less and less.

The Rubin Observatory in Chile has launched it's 'first look' images and they are stunning! The Rubin's main task will be conducting an astronomical surver of the sky every day, and it'sexpected to find over 20 billion new galaxies over the next decade.

Conversations I've had to have with some patients this week:
-No, I'm not part of a grand conspiracy to give women breast cancer by doing mammograms because they don't
-No, squeezing your breast won't rupture cancer and cause it to spread"
-No, aliens don't walk among us,
Ffs people, crack a book!

Haven't done any imaging in almost a year so am pulling out old data from Pinwheel Galaxy that I processed in GIMP and am giving Pixinsight a shot. No calibration frames were done so expectations for improvement are low.The before image, 4 hrs total guided subs with Redcat 51 in Bortle 7 garden.

With nothing but wildfire smokey days in the forcast, I decided to finally dive into The Feynman Lectures. I'm not fond of reading books on my phone so navigated to caltech on my Kindle. You can also increase the font size.

They mistook me for someone that feeds them and came out of the pond and chased me a bit down the trail. Dad was a bit of an ass and kept hissing at me.

A year ago, I couldn't walk for months because of a devastating knee injury. I'm so incredibly thankful that I can be back on the trails again. Next, waiting for a clear night to see if I can handle setting up my telescope rig and polar aligning.🤞
