I got a new Maggie Stiefvater novel and it did not disappoint. All the Crooked Saints is 5/5 stars. Definitely recommend!

Learning to write even when it's hard, is probably the most important lesson a writer can learn. Some of the best writing has come from the most impossible circumstances. Don't wait for inspiration, more time, quiet or comfort. Write something, whatever you can, from where you are now.

My writing career has always been in spite of things. Lack of experience. Changing countries and languages. Being broke. Having three jobs while working on my degree. Racism. Hate mail. Unethical publishers. No agent for 15 years. Writing is a war of attrition, and I don’t quit.

My favorite writing exercise is to ask who wants to tell me a story, and then hopefully a character will share a scene from their life. I meet the most interesting characters this way.
