2/ she had no way of knowing bc we had been msging over fb, where i had a different name and no pp, but i just straightup failed to recognise her from her pic and (unusual) name. so we had a drink and made awkd small talk and let that be a lesson abt the size of queer communities even in big cities

not a book but i think an interested 11 yo could enjoy @lingthusiasm.bsky.social pod, which is great for a wide range of topics.

and more narrow in focus but the book that really sparked my interest in linguistics at around that age was the etymologicon by mark forster. v fun and readable
