Democrats were overwhelmingly united on their shutdown demands.
Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.
Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.
Democrats held the cards — and folded for no reason.

this. I think a lot of people have difficulty understanding that LLMs don't have semantic knowledge - they don't know what words mean, individually or in combination. they can't make errors, hallucinate, acknowledge issues, or have intent. words are just items in probabilistic relationships
When a chatbot gets something wrong, it’s not because it made an error. It’s because on that roll of the dice, it happened to string together a group of words that, when read by a human, represents something false. But it was working entirely as designed. It was supposed to make a sentence & it did.

Genuinely the most shocking realisation of my adult life is how dramatically those of us who enjoy thinking are outnumbered by those who find it wholly unpleasant and worth significant cost and effort to avoid.

Today's AWS outage is causing many sites to load slower than usual. That means images might not be loading as fast as they normally do. But if you've remembered to add alt text to your images, your users will still be able to get the context and content of your images on your site.
One way sighted people can determine what to put in alt text: Imagine you sent the post or article to a friend, and the image didn't load. What would someone need to know to get the equivalent experience and context? This will help you identify the important details.

A nationwide backlash to AI data centers is brewing.
And for good reason: while AI enriches Big Tech CEOs and props up the stock market, data centers are sucking up communities’ water and power.
When the AI bubble bursts, the rest of us will be stuck holding the bag. Be warned.

We can just say, “hey, it’s been proven that their actions are hurting people they’re supposed to be serving, & haven’t listened to the majority of the country telling them to stop.”

Think of the economy as like baking a cake. H‑1B visas supply missing ingredients -- high skill STEM workers. If Trump cuts off access: fewer projects get baked, worse recipes get used, or we import the cake. None of those make Americans better off. #TheProfessorIsIn #TeachEcon
