Today I learned about another bit of consumer crap: the boo basket. A basket with gifts in, like a hamper, is great as a present but this is ridiculous.

Also, I am not sure how to describe this weird thing today but here goes: I accidentally brushed my arm against someone. Really light. Nothing at all. I said ‘oh sorry’. Her boyfriend then hugged her to him and rubbed her arm like she was in real pain whilst giving me an evil look. Next thing,

I’ve come to London to watch a play but turned it into a mini holiday. Anyway, I have tried the nicest vegan food and no fake meat in sight. I had a fake poached egg(!) but no fake meat. I feel very wholesome

First day of holidays: drove back from parents’ Golden Wedding thingy, slept, Pilates and ate some cake. This is a good start!

Summer holidays are here. First year on SLT and I have learned that there is no such thing as winding down for summer in this job!

I did have enough energy to come home and clean the bathroom though.

Doing my summertime job (only between June and July). You know the one: online reading and dragging and dropping comments, right? Oh my word it’s tiring. I’m doing less next year for sure. I was in the house all bloody day doing this

Last night I presented something at a meeting and it was the first time since starting on SLT in September that I felt like I belonged there. It takes ages to feel like that in a job, doesn’t it? Anyone else? How long did it take?

When you’re so tired you have a nap whilst having an MRI scan 🤦‍♀️🙋‍♀️

I’m going to be leading on homework from September. What have you done that has worked to have purposeful homework that has an impact and how have you built a homework culture? Any interesting ideas welcome 🙏

Here to say that it’s ok not to be able to do it/have it ‘all’. I worked then tutored tonight. I have not any chores and have just rested for two hours. Let the house be slightly untidy. We don’t have to be super. It’s alright just to exist and do what you can manage.

Came home early due to cancelled meeting with every intention to go to the gym. Massive headache and chills (freezing cold but head is hot) and have been in bed since 5.30pm. This is not the start to the week I was looking for!

I’m now imagining what would happen if Liz Truss and JD Vance met…🏴‍☠️💀

Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

My cat is such a fussy eater. Only eats dry food (and chicken breast shredded- only fresh, never frozen). My nail lady also has fussy cats so passed on some food to me. Martha would not touch it. However, my leftover pasta has been gobbled up!If I actually gave her pasta, she wouldn’t touch it🤷‍♀️

After over 20 years, I have finally cracked the working during school holidays! Basically, do no work in the daytime on any of the days. Start in the evening and do a couple of hours then rest. I’ve got loads done and haven’t spent the daytimes procrastinating as I know I’m working later on.

I’ve done something to my knee (on overuse thing from running is likely culprit) but I taped it up and went to the gym. Took it very easy and no burpees and nothing unpleasant happened. 🏆😌🥳

I’ve been saved today from running a 10K race because the football team I support won a match and will do the final on the same day as the race. Phew!

Went rogue and escaped the all inclusive for a lunch in Rhodes. My friend at home messaged me to ask if I had been, just as I was 10 mins’ walk from this cafe. What a treat.

Understanding the all inclusive life now. I sat by the beach all day, reading, then did a 5K run to induce some level of hunger. Not sure I’ve fully blended in with the lifestyle though. Not sure how? 😂🤦‍♀️

It rained today on the first day on holiday. I’m at an all-inclusive because I just want to lie down and read. I have just witnessed the gluttony of the all you can eat- wow.
Also It’s been like a nursing home here today. We’ve all been in the lounge due to torrential rain 😂

The work is never done. I’ve known this as long as I have been a teacher but feeling this a lot this year and never quite sure when to stop. I also want to be great straight away at a job I have just started which is unrealistic but I don’t know how to judge my own performance

I was having a really hard time making myself go to the gym. Managed to get there this morning and feel better for it.

Booked day off from school to get a long weekend in Copenhagen. Had a great time! Walked up a massive tower which led to a lovely view. Also popped to Sweden for a bit!
