I can't in all honesty believe any Trump supporter who says they now regret their vote. And not because I think they're lying but because their regret is not worth much. Their regret about Trump is temporary, their support for him is permanent.

It is very important to understand: Trump is in no way special. Some of our conservative relatives are capable of being the same kind of horrifying bully if only they had power. But they don't, so they end up being that annoying person you typically see at Thanksgiving dinner.

At least for a while, Trump's brand had at least some promise. Maybe, just maybe his brashness will do some good? It was a long shot but even us, progressives, at times wondered... what if?
