Really looking forward to the Speaker of the House claiming to be unaware of the election results.

In Texas 9th SD, Democrat Taylor Rehmet is leading three candidates-including Leigh Wambsganss, a well-known Christian nationalist activist who was supported by Trump, Texas GOP leaders and far-right donor Tim Dunn. The district includes Tarrant County, a +5% Trump county + bellwether for the state.

Imagine being 34 years old and having to beat trump, musk, murdoch, and Andrew Cuomo TWICE to be mayor. Every news outlet against you the entire way.

And you win it in an absolute landslide

The thing about Johnson not swearing in Grijalva is that’s it a test for 2026.

If you think they will accept an outcome they don’t like, they will just Grijalva it.

So what’s the plan when the GOP says “we ain’t leaving, fuck you, make us.”

Because that IS what they are going to say.

In case you, like me, saw your electric bill more than double.
Bloomberg research found wholesale electricity up ~270% in areas near data centers

It doesn't seem like nearly enough people are taking it seriously

One A.I. image isn't too much energy, but 5 million videos? Per day/hour/minute whatever. It's not sustainable

Less than 36 hours away from a shutdown, Republicans chose to fly to North Carolina instead of to DC to do their jobs. This field hearing is just another example of them exploiting tragedy to score political points.

A Tarrant County, TX resident who has worked as an election judge criticized the county’s move to cut more than 100 polling sites.

“You’re not saving money,” she said. “You’re sacrificing democracy to save a buck.”

A Texas County Cuts Over 100 Polling Sites as Trump Attacks Mail-In Voting Nationally
The decision by commissioners in Tarrant County, which includes Fort Worth, comes amid growing concern about GOP efforts to limit voting access ahead of next year’s midterm elections.

A few people turned up to see Barack Obama at London's O2 arena tonight

I'm not an expert on crowd sizes but the interviewer said 14,000 people were there. London mayor Sadiq Khan was among them. My report will be in the NYT's On Politics newsletter

Watching all these centrist pundits stress the “civility” of Charlie Kirk’s style without addressing the ugliness of his substance is giving me a renewed appreciation of how the civil, polite White Citizens’ Councils conned the same crowd into thinking they were distinct from the cruder Klan.

Before this year I would have given the idea a disinterested shrug, but I'm now pretty much all-in that Pritzker should be the 2028 nominee and it's not even close, head and shoulders above any plausible alternative.

Every time your electricity bill goes up for the next 10 years, it can be traced back to this Administration’s actions.

They are making solar and wind power illegal to build in the United States. They are artificially restricting supply while demand is going up.
The Transportation Department on Friday canceled $679 million in federal funding for a dozen offshore wind projects, the latest attack by the Trump administration on the reeling U.S. offshore wind industry.
