I am a world traveller, I have taught at university, lived in Beijing, Sydney, London, and Belgium. I now live on the Delmarva. I love dogs, good food, wine, medical science, history, and art. I am now retired and write a travel blog. J'etudie français.
When we lived in Australia the thing I missed most about the US was good Mexican food. Moving to the Delmarva, I held small hope of finding good Mexican food. To my delight, I found Agave in Lewes. Their tacos are world-class.

We moved here because of its natural beauty, mild climate, and its history. This area if full of historical towns and most have a local museum.

One of the best, the Talbot Museum in Easton.

Onancock encapsulates the reason why we moved here for retirement. This region has a wealth of natural beauty and early American small town charm. It is the heart of the US.

What is it about waterfront dining that sets the soul to ease? I prefer the calm waters of the bay to the drama of the sea. Add a little historical charm, and you have perfection.

One of the delightful surprises, about living in Salisbury is that Salisbury has become a hotspot for Asian cuisine, especially along the S. Salisbury Blvd corridor. One of my favorites, is Manna.

Placing a wine store in the middle of a restaurant is ingenious. I order my food, and while I wait, I shop for wine. I also love the unique selection of hard to find wines at Vintage.

It is Halloween, the time for ghosts and goblins. The perfect time to visit the Ghost Museum in Berlin. I found this museum whimsical, charming, and even educational. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The great joy of exploring is the unexpected discovery. This is especially true when you come across someone who enjoys their craft and consequently creates a unique and exceptional product. So glad I found Forgotten 50.

Sometimes, nothing will do but the very best. I did well on my French exam, therefore a first class meal at Bas Rouge in Easton was on order. A bit of Paris on the shores of the Chesapeake.

People race down Rte 50 from DC and Baltimore to get to the coast, unaware that they are missing the best of Maryland. Next time you are heading for the beach, take a moment for lunch at Trappe Coffee. The best coffee in Trappe!

Trap State Park in Delaware contains the northern most stand of bald cypress in the US. The park surrounds an old mill pond, and provides hiking trails through the cypress swamp, and kayaking and canoeing on the lake.

Some of the best surprises come in the most unassuming packages. I recently found t at the General Store in Royal Oak by accident. It is one of the best restaurants on the Eastern Shore. This is worth the drive.

Snow Hill is a small farming community, but its downtown (though merely a couple blocks) is filled with charm, historical architecture, and the best Italian bakery on the Eastern Shore.

I appreciate excellent product design. I saw these bottles on the shelves at Washington Street Pub. I am not a tequila drinker, but these bottles were so beautiful, I had to give it a try.

One of the things I enjoy most about living along the Chesapeake Bay are the dozens of historic farming villages, such as Allen, MD. Around nearly every bend in the road you are surrounded by US history.

Snow Hill is full of history and small town charm. It also home to the Furnace Town Museum which recreates life in an early 1800s pig iron community. The fact that it is also located in the middle of the haunted Pocomoke Forest gives it an added eerie vibe.

Sometimes, when I am traveling south of Salisbury, I stop at the Dockside Restaurant in Pocomoke City just to enjoy the view of Pocomoke's iconic drawbridge, and drink a cold beer on a hot summer's day.

When you think of breakfast, the Mad Hatter is not the first thing that comes to mind. Tea yes, but breakfast? Lewis Carroll's Mad Hatter may have preferred tea, but the one in Salisbury prefers breakfast.

Fusion restaurants have a difficult task. Their cuisine is neither here nor there, the trick is to make the cuisine their own. Chef Tyler Heim at Tiger Lilly in Easton successfully fuses Asian and Latin flavors to create his own cuisine.

Summer is drawing to a close, a perfect time to take advantage of the waning summer weather to have dinner on the riverside patio at Market Street Inn.

Life just doesn't get better than a summer's evening with their honey apple salad and parmesan salmon.
