This is the sort of petty legalism in the cause of freedom we should all aspire to.
The way I see it, I can burn that thing and others like it all damn day long with the biggest risk being causing a fire hazard. That object is not an American flag as defined by 4 U.S.C. §§ 1-2; it violates 4 U.S.C. § 3 if displayed within the District of Columbia, as a "mutilation" of the flag.
