Thought this video essay on the controversy of ace rep was cool.
What stood out to me:
1. I also don’t mind ace villains & think they’re badass. As a fellow Asian American I agree it’s like martial arts AA rep—it’s cool sometimes, it’s just not where the rep should stop.

P.S. Just to be clear:
Asexuality IS a spectrum. Not all aces are sex-repulsed (apothisexual) like me. However the problem is the moment there IS an ace character intended as such, ppl ONLY say “well asexuality is a spectrum!” in order to keep shipping—not to learn their particular ace experience.

Asexuality IS a spectrum. Not all aces are sex-repulsed (apothisexual) like me. However the problem is the moment there IS an ace character intended as such, ppl ONLY say “well asexuality is a spectrum!” in order to keep shipping—not to learn their particular ace experience.

there is no right or wrong way to be asexual. you don't have to look a certain way to be asexual, or behave a certain way to be asexual. asexuality is a spectrum, and we embrace all our demi and grey siblings as well 🫶🏻🩷
