No political leanings, but do not agree with people who say something is a fact because someone told them it was - without actually researching evidence.

Oh dear! Not quite as he hoped.
On this day 225 years ago, John Adams moved into the still-not-quite-complete White House, becoming the first president to occupy it. His blessing was carved into the State Dining Room mantel in 1945: "May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under This Roof.”

From MeidasTouch Legal AF: The Convicted FElon DOJ is now deleting court documents on J6 terrorists who have been in trouble with law repeatedly. The DOJ was caught when a judge noticed a document missing on a J6'er, who wanted to bomb Obama's home & was convicted for it. I bet these are ICE now.

climate catastrophe just feels like the one thing we are collectively soooo deeply unprepared for
Well worth reading. Some extremely articulate comments, with the occasional exception.

The average US taxpayer spends $36 a year on SNAP

You know what they spend on corporate subsidies? $670

Poor and disabled people who need food are not the problem

If you’re angry about “your money” feeding people but not angry it’s giving tax cuts to the wealthy?

You’re doing their dirty work.
Disgusting to decide people with drug addiction they shouldn’t receive food assistance. What sort of vile mind came up with that?
Drug testing people for food assistance is just telling people who have addiction (which is a disease) that they should fuck off and starve to death.

I don't believe in starving people because of health conditions.

To be fair, they’re losing MPs at a much faster rate.
One in twenty Reform councillors elected in May 2025 has left by the Autumn
- half expelled/suspended
- a quarter resigned from council
- some defected

An "unusual rate" of attrition in 6 months, says Tony Travers

Reform Is Losing Councillors Elected In May At An 'Unusual' Rate
Reform UK has lost more than 5 per cent of the councillors it had elected six months ago, an analysis by PoliticsHome has found.

Awful: Pentagon officials told lawmakers Trump now claims authority to bomb people merely “affiliated” with “narco-terrorist" groups, Rep Adam Smith tells me. But under questioning, they wouldn't say what “affiliated” even means!

Lots of fresh info in my new piece:

One horrifying aspect of decades of scaremongering against the MMR vaccine specifically that I don’t see mentioned often is the broad range and high prevalence of serious birth defects caused *by rubella*

reminder that Hitler never wrote a new German constitution, never "officially" changed the government

he just closed the legislature and ruled alone, against the law, until he was stopped
Look at the droop on the right side of Trump’s face when the Malaysian Prime Minister joked about him going to prison and Trump nearly going to prison. Is that the artefact of a Stroke?

An estimated 15.7 million workers use SNAP. It’s a lifeline for those in low-wage jobs.

Meanwhile, CEOs are paid 280x as much as the typical worker.

Don’t be angry at workers for using food stamps.

Be angry at the corporations paying them so little that they need them.

Rep. Adam Smith: "This country has not agreed to have the death penalty for drug smuggling. If we want to have that policy conversation, we can have that policy conversation, but the president has unilaterally decided that lethal force is going to be applied. It's an enormous expansion of power."

Adelita Grijalva now holds the record for longest delay between winng a special Congressional election and being sworn into office.

Why the delay from Mike Johnson?

Perhaps it's because Grijalva would cast the final vote needed to release the Epstein files.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

In law (USA and UK) “a reasonable person is one who is:
"reasonable, informed, practical and realistic" who "consider the matter in some detail" not a "very sensitive or scrupulous" person, but is "right-minded"dispassionate and fully apprised of the case.” Bias shouldn’t inform their judgement.
